Winning GQ Sportsman of the year last night. Great to see such a nice decent boxer winning an award for his achievments.

How on earth has he won it, in Olympic year, based on his results? He's won some joke fights! I wouldn't dream of buying the mag anyway but if I see it in the dentists or somewhere, it's going in the bin.

GQ awards are a popularity contest, it's just whoever they deem cool and a celebrity. "Sportsman" is a pretty funny term to apply to AJ, sticking his tongue out as opponents as he bashes them, clattering them after the bell etc. A man to look up to.

I'm sure this award won't go to his head, and he will remain the down to earth, humble individual we all know and love.

Given that their are plenty of sportsmen who achieved genuinely great things thus year (Andy Murray, Mo Farrah, Jason Kenny etc) and Joshua isn't one of them, it is hard to believe he is the nations best sportsman.
In fact he isnt even the best boxer this year, particularly if you conpared his achievements with that of Frampton or Fury, hell, even Bisping beating Rockhold in the UFC beats anything Joshua has done.
But a boxer winning a popularity contest in a non boxing related publication shows that he must be doing something right, good luck to him.

Who buys "Gentlemens Quarterly" magazine ? Can't believe it's profitable in this day and age.
Ah well, congrats AJ. Sportsman of the year, in an Olympic year too.
Wins over virtual unknowns like Martin and Brazeal far outweighs the achievement of someone like Jason Kenny who only won a 6th Olympic gold medal.

Yeah I mean knocking out Martin and Breazeale is way more of an achievment. than Mo Farah winning gold in the 10,000m and 5,000m or Laura Trott's double gold medals, or Max Whitlock's double gold and bronze for gymnastics, or Jason Kenny's triple gold in cycling, or Frampton beating a legit top fighter,
