It's strange that you should mention that J.
I watched a program on the discovery channel yesterday about people in the far east buying Gibbons as pets. This woman had a Gibbon in her flat, clearly as a substitute for a child. The thing that made it even worse was the fact she'd dressed it like a little boy. It could go wherever it liked within the flat but only went ouside very rarely. It was truly awful to watch the poor little thing sat with it's face up against the window.
I think, whilst the spectacle is disgusting, that those two animals will be pretty well cared for compared to what some other endangerad animals go through.

Mate its horrific what goes on the world to our feathered and furry friends, it really is, and I know the standard response is "well they are only animals" but fuckinell we as humans have choices to make. These poor fuckers dont. To me its cowardice like picking on kids.
I actually slapped some bloke in tenerife once who badgered my missus at the time to have her foto taken with a baby tiger. She wanted to and we ended up having a big off row and the prick still asked.
What happens when the tiger gets bigger Ill tell you they drown it shoot it whatever.
A fornicating tiger for fucks sake.
Theres only a matter of thousands left of them in the wild and here is some pudendum making fornicating money out of a cheap shot to then kill it.
My blood boils.
Anyone else see theat picture of those dolphins rounded up and slaughtered in that japanese river recently, hundreds of em, slaughtered for some spurious medicine. fornicate me I wanted to scream when i saw that.
one day the world will pay us back for all this, just hopefully not in our lifetime or childrens childrens lifetime, but onew day it will and then we will be fucked. Royally.
Ok killling to eat is something different but this type of exploitation makes my fornicating skin crawl. I wish all involved in it a very slow and painful death. And I mean that.
here endeth my greenpeace rant

They are pictures from a site (or article on a site) thats against this, they are campaigning for it to be stopped, i believe animal rights are now heavily involved.
Man vs beast

Another animal article from the guardian
A new TV show Man Versus Beast is proving hugely popular in the United States. Clearly anything that helps bring Merv Hughes to wider international attention will have every sports fan's blessing. Alas, it seems the beasts they have in mind are not retired Australian fast bowlers but creatures far more civilised and much less hairy - warthogs, for example.
So far the stateside audience has thrilled to such human v animal conflicts as a sumo wrestler engaging in a tug-of-war with an orangutan, the world indoor 200m champion Shawn Crawford racing a giraffe, and a competition between a team of dwarfs and an elephant to see which can pull a DC10 the faster.
According to reports, a UK version of the show is in the planning stage. In the past US TV sports formulas have not always translated well to Britain. Celebrity boxing is the prime example. After a couple of half-baked bouts, neither of which came close to rivalling the raw-trash splendour of top American clashes such as Tonya Harding v Paula Jones, the British Boxing Board of Control intervened to have the contests banned.
I can see the BBBC's reasoning but personally I think their well-intentioned interference will end up doing more harm than good. Throughout history celebrities have had fights with one another. It is nature's way. Hannibal v Scipio; Napoleon v Wellington; Russell Harty v Grace Jones spring to mind. Banning bouts will simply force them underground. In fact it already has.
A number of websites are currently showing footage of a ferocious barney above an East End boozer in which the bloke from the Ronseal advert takes on Geoffrey from Rainbow and gives him a terrible shellacking. Three hours later Geoffrey is seen staggering from the pub looking dazed, confused and completely touch dry. In this case the result was just a few bruises and an overall weatherproof sheen in a slightly unnatural shade of teak but the next fight might not end so happily.
Television trivialises things. (Last week, for instance, I watched a show on cable called I'm A German Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! It turned out to be a documentary about the Battle for Berlin) and sadly Man Versus Beast is no exception.
Once again the skills of the animals are being underestimated to a patronising degree. Why limit these magnificent creatures to brute tests of speed and strength when you could test their creativity and intelligence as well?
It must be hoped that British producers will show more imagination than their US counterparts and answer some of the imponderables that are regularly debated around the nation's watercoolers and smoking doorways. Questions such as, who would win if Stephen Hendry played a ring-tailed lemur at eight-ball pool? In rugby league if Leeds Rhinos took on 13 real rhinos which would emerge victorious?
Again could a porcupine fill the problem position on the left side of England's midfield or is it a job for a camel? When it comes to hitting a moving target with a warm turd, is a chimpanzee more accurate than Phil "The Power" Taylor?
If nothing else the programme might open people's eyes to the possibilities. It has long been my contention that animals have a more important role to play on the national sporting scene than simply chasing an electrified hare or jumping over hedges with midgets on their backs.
Take, for instance, the inclusion of vultures in Premiership squads. Clearly having a vulture on the pitch from the outset would be of limited use - they cannot tackle and, as they themselves would be the first to admit, their distribution is woefully predictable - but when a team is winning by a single goal, the opposition dominant and there are just a few minutes left on the clock, a vulture could be brought on as sub.
At the first opportunity the ball is chipped on to his back and he climbs into the sky to circle on the hot air rising from the dug-outs, mindful all the time of the need to remain within the markings of the pitch. The ball is still live but the opposition cannot get at it. As a method of time wasting it is at once as legitimate as a player running the ball into the corner and then standing over it with his legs apart and his bum sticking out and at the same time is more graceful and aesthetically pleasing.
The tactic is not foolproof, however. If Arsène Wenger had adopted it when his team were still 2-1 up against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium a fortnight ago I imagine Sam Allardyce would immediately have fished in his kit bag for a piece of rotting road kill, tossed it on to the pitch and instructed Youri Djorkaeff to loiter close by until the vulture was tempted down to eat.
It might have worked, too, though my feeling is that the canny Wenger, fully aware that vultures feed on a carcass only when other animals higher up the food chain have finished with it, would have had a hyena warming up on the touchline just in case.

Not too bad as it happens, must've got lucky! The Crispy Duck is a decent chop house, but some of the others you want to steer well clear of I agree.
One of the items on the menu was "fish lips with liver gizzards"

Having said that when I was in south africa I had an african meze, and one of the tiems I found out later was carpacio of anteater!

Also remember a tale from my parent s in thailand, my mum after a heavy night deciedd she fancied an omelette for brekkie, saw a sign saying "magic mushroom omelette" now not being the most knowledgable on such matters she ordered the "magic mushgroom omlette" but realised just in time when the mushrooms werent quite what she expected.
fornicate me that could have been funny, equally it could have been a nightmare!!!! Though knowing my mum she would have just giggled inanely for 12 hrs!
