Should same day weigh-ins come back ?

Recently, probably in the last few years I've felt that maybe same day weigh-ins would be good for boxing ...

I see fighters rehydrating crazy amounts of weight and almost turning good competitive boxing matches into simply mismatches due to the excess amount of weight gained over night

I understand why same day weigh-ins were cancelled to avoid cancellations etc but boxing is a brutal sport as it is, wouldn't being weighed on the same day help protect fighters ?

What do you guys feel ?

My feeling is that same day weigh ins would benefit the sport although i understand why they were abolished in the first place. There must be some sort of hydration check that can be done to ensure fighters safety nowadays.

Simply using a set of scales is an old way of checking someones condition for a fight, nowadays there must be so many more advanced things that can be done to level the playing field and ensure we are seeing fair match ups between guys who arent risking their health.

Yes I agree, we all love a good boxing match in a brutal sport like boxing everything should be done to help protect the fighters which I think can be done in the form of same day weigh ins

Since same day weigh ins were supposed to go for the safety reason of stopping last minute weight cutting, why can't it be done by tracking the weight across a period of time to ensure that they are not doing that. Otherwise it becomes just as dangerous when you get someone coming into the ring at 154 facing a guy weighing 170 - which will be happening because the weigh in is no longer on the day.

Yes I get what you are trying to say I respect what the WBC do with the 30 day weight check in similarly what the IBF do with restriction on rehydration to 10 pounds next day

I know lets get the same day weigh in back in a fighters hydrate properly and fight at the weight they are meant to be.
If they are dehydrated then the god doc says they cant fight.
That is how it should be. Would be interesting to see who has to go up in weight

Didn't the whole allowing pros into the Olympics throw up this very challenge, most of the pros who went in (trying to qualify, were interested etc) were looking at fighting at a higher weight because they wouldn't be able to chop and change their weight across the timespan.
