Horn to face German Mueller

A world title shot beckons for rising Australian welterweight Jeff Horn if he can keep his undefeated pro boxing record intact next month.

Horn (14-0-1) is locked in to face German Rico Mueller (21-1-1) on October 21 in Brisbane and his promoters say victory could make him the world's second-ranked fighter in his division.

Currently No.4 in the WBO and IBF, Horn stopped American veteran Randall Bailey in April and is aiming to force a mandatory challenge for one of the two belts next year, if not sooner.

Confirmation of Horn's latest assignment comes at an interesting time in welterweight boxing, with talk current IBF title holder Kell Brook may switch permanently to the middleweight division and vacate his belt.

I'v never heard of this guy and I know that doesn't mean he can't fight but at this stage with Jeff talking World Title fight's he should be fighting better known fighter's someone like Randal but a bit younger beatable guy's that Jeff can introduce himself to the USA market.

Mueller's name was being mention for Horn back in May :

Mueller was IBF #10 back in May. He isn't now.

Hard to justify 11th ranked Horn versus the 49th ranked Mueller as the headline fight on a PPV card.
Might be different if it was a top 10 fighter in a genuine title eliminator.

Someone like 40th ranked Lenny Zappa would give Horn a much stiffer test.

Talk of a title fight against Pacquaio would seem very fanciful at this stage of Horn's career.

One things for sure they won't be getting any of my money for this dross.

Few of us have seen or know much about the 21-1-1 Mueller.

Looking through his record many of his opponents were inexperienced.

We do know Mueller was IBF #10 about 4 months ago, and has since fallen out of the Top 10 even though he hasn't fought since then.

There are Mueller fights on YouTube....looks like a fairly soft touch to me.

Have just been looking at some of Mueller's recent fights myself.

Horn will be far and away his best credentialed opponent.

This fight from just over a year ago against the experienced Rey Labao is worth a watch. Labao is a blown up lightweight, but he takes Mueller to war for a few rounds :

Also appearing on the October 21st card at the Sleeman Centre are Shannon O’Connell, Rohan Murdock, Brad Hore and Jarrett Owen.

Kell Brook has apparently officially vacated his IBF welterweight championship.

Meanwhile, Jeff Horn has been sparring Cameron Hammond in preparation for his fight against Rico Mueller.

Just to clarify the Ticketek prices for Chandler.

Gold admits 8 $2495.00
Silver admits 8 $1995.00

Still way over the top for the quality of the card.
Big chance Horn will take Mueller out early.
Three weeks out and the promoters can't even show the full card.

Better value to drive to Newcastle to watch Rocky Jerkic V Gunnar Jackson for the vacant Commonwealth title on 5th November.

23-0 (20) yet barely in the top 350

Horn is a decent prospect in a very talented division. Don't see him beating any top Welters anytime soon tho.

Foxpsorts just reported Horn is 4 kg over weight two days out.

Rohan Murdock’s next opponent is the one and only 36 year old Damian Ezequiel Bonelli who has fought a total of 23 bouts, that have lasted the grand total of 44 rounds. The number of local stiffs Bonelli has fought belies his 87% KO record.

Bonelli won't be giving up his day job driving taxis around Buenos Aires after Rohan finishes him off quickly on Friday night.
