Carl Framptons big win over Leo Santa Cruz elevated him to a top 10 P4P slot.
What division should he campaign in ?

Yeah true. If LSC wins the rematch it's all but guaranteed really you'd think (well bar Haymon going bankrupt in the meantime lol)SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I wouldn't be shocked to see a trilogy with LSC before anything else.
I'd assume Carl will have a rematch clause.lefty wrote:Yeah true. If LSC wins the rematch it's all but guaranteed really you'd think (well bar Haymon going bankrupt in the meantime lol)SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I wouldn't be shocked to see a trilogy with LSC before anything else.
Whatever you think, LSC exercised his rematch clause. That is next.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:I don't think there's anything to prove in an immediate rematch.
It would only ruin LSC career like Malinaggi did to Juan Diaz.
LSC should fight 2 boxers before fighting Frampton again.
Frampton has a money match against Selby ... go get your $$$.
LSC could go either Russell Jr. (Biggest reward) or a confidence booster against a good boxer type with no power.
I could watch them do a JMM v Pac series of fights.lefty wrote:Yeah true. If LSC wins the rematch it's all but guaranteed really you'd think (well bar Haymon going bankrupt in the meantime lol)SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I wouldn't be shocked to see a trilogy with LSC before anything else.
There was no rematch clause. McGuigan said it in the post fight press conference.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Whatever you think, LSC exercised his rematch clause. That is next.
Think that's definitely on the cards.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Frampton has a money match against Selby ... go get your $$$.
Belfast it may be, everything I've heard there was a clause and it's been executed. We'll see.Crease wrote:There was no rematch clause. McGuigan said it in the post fight press conference.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Whatever you think, LSC exercised his rematch clause. That is next.
And if there ever is a rematch it would have to be in Belfast.
Not according to LSC, he said at the post fight press conference that the rematch should be "back home in LA".SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Belfast it may be, everything I've heard there was a clause and it's been executed. We'll see.
The longer the odds the more likely a rematch clause. Anyway, not fan speculation, it's from people in the know. That doesn't mean it's 100% fact, but it's a good bit over 50/50 when I look into thingsCrease wrote:Not according to LSC, he said at the post fight press conference that the rematch should be "back home in LA".SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Belfast it may be, everything I've heard there was a clause and it's been executed. The clause is merely fan speculation. There may well be a lucrative rematch but there's no obligation for it.
And why would there have been the need for a clause when American bookmakers had Frampton as far out as 11/1 when the fight was announced.
And even at 6/1 on the morning of the fight.
Well not really. GoldenBoy thought it was an easy fight for LSC. So a rematch clause was not inserted.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:The longer the odds the more likely a rematch clause. Golden Boy had no involvement at all, both fighters are represented by Al Haymon. Santa Cruz was making a voluntary defence as the defending champion, a rematch clause is standard procedure in fights like that, regardless of the opponent.Crease wrote:Well not really. And had there been a rematch clause it would have been activated immediately at the press conference.
No, you don't have to activate a rematch clause at all and you certainly don't have to activate it an hour after the fight. As I already stated, the "easier" the fight, the more likely a rematch clause will be in play.Crease wrote:Well not really. GoldenBoy thought it was an easy fight for LSC. You can't activate contractual clauses in press conferences, not that anyone would make decisions that quickly.

Wasn't the Danny Garcia project supposed to get smoked by Amir Khan and Lucas Mattysse?klitoris wrote:Leo Santa Cruz is basically a "danny garcia" project that went wrong. That loss looks so beautiful on his record, it makes me cry a little out of happiness.
