The sport of boxing was in the middle of notoriety in this decade. I can't say much of the era. I have not really study the events and politics of the times. Industrialization was about to begin in some parts of the world. Everything about sports was as rudimentary as it can be. The same was with boxing. But, the decade has given us some exceptional boxers, that until this day, they are not forgotten: Bob Fitzsimmons, George Dixon, Terry McGovern, Joe Gans and James J. Jeffries to name a few. These in my view, are the top ten best fighters pound per pound of the decade:
1. Bob Fitzsimmons
2. Tommy Ryan
3. George Dixon
4. Jimmy Barry
5. Charles "Kid" McCoy
6. Terry McGovern
7. Jim J. Jeffries
8. Mysterious Billy Smith
9. George "Kid" Lavigne
10. James J. Corbett
Honorary mention: Young Griffo, Joe Gans, Barbados Joe Walcott, and Young Peter Jackson
