Glenn Catley vs Markus Beyer
1. 10 - 9 - Catley. Very solid start from Catley. Landing shots from various angles and moving well
2. 10 - 10 - Beyer conservative with his output but very solid look to him and lands heavy. Catley with a few good punches late to steal a share of the second
3. 10 - 9 - Catley. Textbook against southpaw. Circling to his left, left hook and straight rights that don't seem to miss. Beyer looks like theres real power in that left
4. 9 - 10 - Beyer. Fights in real fast powerful bursts. You feel if he could put these together more often he'd be dangerous
5. 10 - 9 - Catley. Shaded a close round. Picks his punches well, variety to his work and moving better than Beyer, who is reluctant to let his hands go
6. 9 - 10 - Beyer. Another close one with Beyer just getting the edge. Catley needs to up his workrate
7. 9 - 10 - Beyer. Another decent round from the German. Catley falling short with a few punches. Both guys circling, in range, no great deal of footwork to speak of
8. 9 - 10 - Beyer. Similar to the last couple. Catley had some success, nice left uppercut through the guard a couple times
9. 10 - 9 - Catley. Slightly busier man in a quite round, not a lot to talk about
10. 10 - 9 - Catley. Again doing enough, good response from him to catch Beyer after he launches an attack
11. 10 - 9 - Catley. Busier round from both but still close. Catley lunging in at times
12. TKO Cately. Well that was a surprise. What a stunning right hand, Beyer looked very Khan/Enzoesque when that landed
106 - 104 to Cately on my card at the time of the stoppage
That's a couple times I've watched an old fight recently, I've saw "12" in the record on here and assumed it went the distance, then been pleasantly surprized when there was a final round KO
Beyer was quick with his hands, strong and powerful and could let go some quick accurate combinations. But he looked to lack a bit of imagination and creativity and also looked a tad static at times. He also needed to work a bit more. Had a bit of the Felix Sturm/Arthur Abraham habit of trying to nick rounds with minimal effort.
Catley on the other hand showed good variety, looked to think more about his work, used decent upperbody movement to create angles and pick the right punches. You can't help think if you could put the 2 fighters together and give Catley the Germans physical attributes, you'd have had a really cracking fighter.

Also worth noting, I found myself agreeing with the commentry team throughout (although our scorecards differed by a round or 2)
I often wonder if I should watch with the sound down, as I'm always weary of being influenced by the commentry.
Or maybe just that they were absolutely spot on and concurred with Davies genius scoring and analysis

Cracking right hand from Catley to put Beyer down in the last,Markus just couldnt recover,i thought Glenn started off well before the action died down with a lot of rounds in the middle decided by a single punch on my card,Catley struggled to find his range after the good start and Beyer being the counter puncher struggled to get his counters off which made for a boring fight,i had Catley slightly ahead by the end but what a punch to score the KD

Catley/Brown was an excellent fight,a lot better than the Beyer one,Mickey Vann is a great ref but he had a mare that night ,he let Glenn away with murder, constant use of the shoulder and as blatant headbutt your likely to see, still Vann never deducted any points of him, credit to Brown though,he never once complained despite him taking a shellacking from the start,he sucked it up and actually started having success of his own but by then the damage was done and it was a good call by Brendan Ingle to retire him on his stool after 8

Was at an event recently sat next to Catley and Woodhall, both top guy. Catley wasn't that knowledgeable about the current Boxing scene but he said Rugby is his favorite sport so fair play. Had some good conversations with Woodhall.
