Tom Loeffler confirmed the GBP negotiations, but found the terms unacceptable, but he refused to go into details. The K2 chief was careful to avoid accusing GBP of knowlingly telling out and out lies.

I thought you would have made at least a very small effort to ascertain K2’s side of things before accusing the opposing side of being liars?

I mean, you've implied that Canelo is lying when he claims he "damaged" his hand to avoid fighting Golovkin in December? FFS!

K2, GBP and Canelo have always doggedly maintained that there is a verbal agreement in place for the bout to take place during September 2017?

Just to touch on Canelo's performance this weekend.
I was fairly impressed, his punch power is still there but more importantly his boxing ability looks to be improving.
He uses the left hand very nicely for the hook and his body shots were bang on the mark and created a lot of problems, if there was some concern it might be the gas tank.
That said I still don't see how he beats GGG at this point and I can't think of a single reason other than money why GGG would avoid taking this contest.
The ball is firmly in Canelo's court and he's going to have to make a very tough decision in the next few months, either he takes up the challenge or his reputation will suffer a pretty damn hard blow by turning it down.
Shame really I like Canelo the man and his boxing ability is improving, but this is the highest level and in order to stay there you all know what he has to do.

Do I think Canelo would fight GGG, yes. Without doubt.

Do I think GBP would negotiate anywhere near fair terms for him in to fight GGG anytime soon ... hell No

According to Canelo's trainer, his hand is not serious enough to prevent Canelo from fighting on December 10th.

Still, I seriously doubt if DLH will want Canelo to fight him until next September. It will give GGG more time to hopefully slip by then.

The offer DLH and Canelo are talking about is for September of 2017. Canelo was never going to fight GGG this year or in May.

Almost 2 years after Canelo won the lineal middleweight championship.

Kudos. I completely agree. That PPV was one of the worst i've seen. 3 of the 4 fights were shutouts on the scorecards. The fight before the main event featured Gabe Rosado...yes, Gabe Rosado. The guy that has lost on every televised card he's been on it seems. He got his TENTH loss. You're telling me that they couldn't come up with anyone better than that? Laughable.

GB lives and dies with Canelo's success at this point. It's clear that they don't have anyone else in their farm system selling tickets. A loss to GGG at this point would be disastrous for the company and i think that's why they ducked GGG. My problem with it is that they should have never taken the fight with Cotto. They HAD to know that GGG pressure was coming to the winner of that one. They couldn't resist grabbing the low hanging fruit though. Horrible move.

Canelo forced their hand for Lara & Trout. He's cool with not fighting GGG and is embarrassing himself. GBP is pretty dead past Canelo, that was an all time bad PPV. I didn't even stream it.

Golovkin vs Canelo is a mismatch anyway. Smith was putting him on the ropes. Golovkin could finish him whenever he wanted.

... this is what happens when you let this dickhead DLH be involved with the day to day operations of the company.
DLH did great for himself. But, it's been proven in sports that greatness doing doesn't mean greatness leading.

DLH was a good face of the company. He is the prototype modern boxer looking to go mainstream.
That's all he needed to be. A Sugar Ray Leonard in the promotion game. Smile and shake hands.

GBP peaked when he was in rehab. When Schaeffer and Haymon were running the show.
Yeah, they were cutting him out, and some people think it's shady. But, this is different than the morals of you and your crew.
From what I see about this business world, that move would have been deemed sensible and fully backed anywhere outside of boxing.
If Haymon and Schaeffer really wanted to be shady, they could have really embarrassed him. Fishnets. Just imagine.

Trying to think of the last good GBP event. Not a co-promotion.

Told you GBP was going to be total trash.
Canelo probably stayed on some Jerry Macguire shit.

Nah, canelo wanted those fights badly. He's fine sitting this one out.

I don't think Canelo-Lara was a robbery, but notice that not one of the scores listed above is as wide as Levi Martinez's 117-111, and obviously the draw cards and the cards for Lara were omitted.
