*POST SEASON DECISIONS*

We are now onto our final week, this season will be over very shortly. There will probably be a 5/6/7 day gap until our new season starts (and a Fighter list is drawn up by me)
But whilst going about your business, I would ask each of you a few questions that you can answer on here, this thread.
1.
A 3rd fighter option
There have been discussions between the 3 Commishes regarding allowing each member to Manage a 3rd boxer. This will be an optional component, but we think it would help to swell our fighter numbers and could make The BoxRecSim that little bit more difficult for everyone.
Would you be interested in taking on board a 3rd fighter?

2.
Other potential Managers
We have tried advertising the sim before, but it mostly lead to a few ney guys coming in for a short while, then flaking off. Are there any members that you could recommend who you think would make an enthusiastic Manager for our sim?
If so, please contact them and offer them an invitation. If you would prefer not to, please leave their name on this thread and I can send them an invitation and I'd be willing to answer any questions that they might have.
Thanks for sticking with us all season. And if you haven't won a World Championship this season, don't worry - the next one won't be long coming around.

Third fighter would be fun. I can see how I could maneuver a lower tier guy.
A few neww managers would help spice things up around here, I think.
Since we are going with a possible 3 fighter now per manager, are we going to roll with 2 divisions again or just one? I think twodivisions work best, especially with the snake style draft. It allows everybody to get one top tier fighter, IMO.

I prefer the one weight class format personally.

As do I, but that's only my personal opinion and I only get a single vote like the rest of you.
I would suggest that maybe we should do a multi-weight season, followed by a 1 weight season, multi-weight season, 1 weight season - and follow that structure? I don't know, it's just an idea I'm throwing out there. It seems fair enough to me.

Truthfully, I'm delighted to see that the 3rd fighter option is being greeted with positive feedback.
Every season that goes by, I always seem to look at the Fighter List and single out a name who I think I could've done alright with. And there's always a wee part of me that regrets not taking the fighter on and taking the risk with them.
For example, someone like David Tua in a Heavyweight season. You know that he would probably struggle against the better fighters, he would have a tendency to be outboxed, yet there's no denying that he could bang! And that he would do damage to your opponents.
Or another way to look at it is, someone like a Herol Graham. Who you know is clearly a talented guy, very good defensive boxer. Yet would he beat the top guys? Probably not. Yet he could probably be seen as a "safe bet" to clock up a lot of points victories for you and after a good run of results, who knows how far he could take it?
It's for reasons like these. The big question marks - is why we need the 3rd fighter option.
If we are to be honest, it is a bit of a "wild card" idea but it could be a lot of fun.

My thing is, in a one weight season, whoever is at the end of the drafted is getting shafted. Let's say we have 15 managers, whoever is at the end of the round isn't getting a top level fighter. If you have 2 weight classes, you are guaranteed to get a good fighter who could be in the championship mix. Plus 3 fighters, there will be some shyt to choose from in one weight division.
I vote two weight divisions. We don't have to wait 20 weeks for them to fight each other. We could even do back to back divisions, 160/154, 147/140, etc..if people wanted to. Separate them, 130/175, etc. I just think there is a bigger talent pool with two divisions, keeping more people interested, IMO.

But that's not necessarily always the case is it? How many times in the past have we seen a 2nd round draft pick do well and win World Championships?
Quite a few times by my count if we are to go back through the seasons. And isn't that part of the challenge of the Sim? Not just glorying in having a favourable draft pick.
armageto wrote:Plus 3 fighters, there will be some shyt to choose from in one weight division.
I wouldn't describe is as "
shyt" - as I said earlier, I'd like to think of the 3rd pick as the gamble that we all take with a bit of a crazy horse of a fighter.
After all we'd all be on the same boat, it would be a level playing field - once the window opens - first come, first served. And if there's one division that would have the talent pool to cover
10 Managers + 3 options = 30 fighters then it is definitely the Middleweight division. That amount of talent in that division over the span of 125 years, should be enough to keep us all intrigued.

And you're perfectly entitled to your vote sir. And in fact, we did do just that in the Bantamweight season when we put the 122 & 118ers in together. And in your defense, it seemed to work fairly flawlessly all things being considered.

what if we combine 140-147-154-160? that should give people plenty of options to have a good stable. we could even set it up so that a Welter fighter could negotiate a Middleweight to come down to 154 for a catchweight bout or move up to 160 to fight for titles or a champ at 154 thinks he can take the middleweight title etc., alot of exciting options...or we could just keep it as pound for pound which works well also.
or I've been thinking about letting you guys create your own fighter if there was interest but I'd need to work out the details first.

Yeah, I'd like a third fighter as well. Maybe it would be better as an optional mid-season addition though, rather than as a third round of the initial draft.
As for the weight classes thing, were it up to me I'd say stick with the current system where we have two divisions for the newer in-between weights, one division for the "classic" 135, 160, 175 etc seasons. But I can see why those who've been playing longer might want to mix it up a bit more so I'm easy with whatever.
