"Tyson Fury will not fight again" - Eddie Hearn

"Fury will be stripped of his titles and, after a legal battle, he'll say: 'No more, I'm done'," said Hearn.

"It's going to be really messy and it might take a year to resolve. I know there are sensitivities around mental health issues but this is a business.

"The governing bodies have had enough. The world heavyweight title is a huge part of their business and they've not made any money from it for a year." - Eddie Hearn.

Eddie Hearn is a lowly mongrel! I hope Tyson goes to the sugar hut and rips him up for arse paper!

Come on now. Would you really want to wipe your arse on pieces of the torn body of Eddie Hearn? How would that even be practical? It would make more mess than it removed.

Eddie Hearn out of line with his similar comments on the BBC news, it's not always about money

I've not always been a big fan of some of Fury's shenanigans, but if there is a mental health issue here, it seems Hearn was a bit quick to stick the boot in.

Seems the whole thing is just a way of Hearn finding an excuse to duck Klitschko. Like I say, I know I've been critical of Fury before but at least he went and beat Klitschko, in an away fight that in the champions second home. Tyson at least proved me wrong in winning a fight I never thought he would. That at least gained my respect.

Team Hearn on the other hand doesn't seem to want to run the risk of having Joshua fighting anybody he might lose to. Joshua won the title by the beating the biggest fluke champion in the history of the sport. And will continue to make Micky Mouse defences as long as the governing body allows him and the fans keep falling for it enough to buy the PPVs.

Fury can be a bit of a knob, but if this mental illness is legit, it's a bit low for Hearn to put the boot in this quickly, just so he can get his "We're not fighting Klitschko" excuse out of the way quickly.

Anything but, I'm afraid.

He can fool people into paying for PPVS with main events that wouldn't be considered good fights if they were on free-to-air TV.

Never mistake lack of integrity for lack of intellect or ability.

And I bet Eddie has e-mailed all the governing bodies to remind them

Course they concern him. His biggest payday is Joshua Fury.

I think everyone is a bit quick to jump on Eddie's back here. It is most certainly his business when Sky and the BBC are asking for his opinion. It's also very much his business when his hottest fighter is in the same division, with Fury holding the majority of the belts. He wanted the fight to go ahead so they could line Joshua up with the winner - for obvious reasons.

As far as the mental health issues go, that is obviously a very very serious subject, but there is also certainly a difference between clinical depression, and being fed up because everyone was picking on him. The jury is still out about where Fury's mental issues lie on the spectrum, but you only have to watch the Peter Fury interview, and it seems to me he's more fed up about the witch hunt (which only the Fury's believe is a real thing). Additionally to that, if they do cite depression, and it's not genuine, then that completely undermines what real depression is all about, and the effects it has on people's lives. At the moment all we have to go on is an 'unspecified medical condition' which is vague to say the least. I look forward to hearing what is said in the presser on Tuesday.

Hearn's comments were as far as I am concerned not as bad as everyone is making out. He clearly stated that he presumed this was the position of the sanctioning bodies, which I think few of us would disagree with. Could he of been more tactful with the way he expressed that? Yeah possibly, but this is Tyson Fury, and I think everyone is a bit fed up with his antics.

I sincerely hope it is not clinical depression, and if it is, in Tyson's and the sports best interest, it's best he just steps away from the game and concentrates on making a full recovery.

Hearn will be sitting creaming his pants at the thought of Joshua potentially inheriting more titles.

Can see Fury for months and years to come (if he doesnt fight again) criticising belt holders who arent real champions because he never lost his titles in the ring etc. Could basically write the interviews just now.

Hopefully Fury sorts himself out, even if he doesnt fight again then hopefully he finds a way to be content with what hes achieved and enjoy his life with his family. However, if he does fight again I hope he focuses more on what happens in the ring instead of trying to play the media. He has definitely always tried to play the clown and if what they say now is true then it has all back fired and caught up with him.

Good luck champ! :bag:

I am not sure what is wrong with what Hearn said. He was asked a question and he is exactly the sort of person who should answer what this all may mean in a boxing context as the leading promoter in the country and also the promoter of one of the Heavyweight beltholders.

Nothing he has said will make the situation any worse for Fury, if he is mentally ill then he is ill and none of this matters to him anyway, not really.

As said, I am not a fan of what he says but in a sporting context it all saddens me, and as a human being, I hope he manages to get the right help. Mental illness is an illogical nasty b4stard.

The full article on sky sports site reads a lot better. He makes a valid point that with mental health issues there is no fixed point for return. Given he hasn't fought in a year, something will need to be done.

I hope that doesn't happen. Nobody wants to see the guy ending up a pretty much cartoon-character bitter old man.

I hope he ditches Hennessy and his team and is able to make a fresh start. When he started he was a likeable, fun guy - good sense of humour, something different, pretty raw but talented. Over the years he's got better and achieved the best result in the division for a decade but seems bitter, angry and to be honest, a bit stale. His fights used to be enjoyable and now they're a chore. For a guy who supposedly doesn't care what people say about him he seems to have very thin skin, and that's without going down the homophobic, anti-semitic, sexist line. Nobody is picking on him, and if Lewis Hamilton said all women should stay in the kitchen or Harry Kane was tweeting about killing gay people they'd be front and back page news as well.

I'd love to see him back how he was.

I agree with you. The comments are nowhere near as bad as made out. All Hearn cares about is the belts. Fury isn't his fighter and he's looking at the sanctioning bodies for what they are, money grabbing whores.

They have lost out on sanctioning fees for a year, they hate that. They won't want it to continue so they'll strip him.

Morals of right and wrong about helping fury deal with his illness don't come into for these guys.

If he's ill of course. I mean, I imagine he is probably a bit fed up. His rematch sold about fifteen tickets, he's not been paid in years and he has to watch a wideboy like Eddie tell everyone how Joshua is going to earn a fortune whilst selling out arenas in five minutes.

But as for all this depression stuff. I don't know. The Fury's talk just as much bollocks as the next man if not way more.

Hearn's comments reveal a man who knows everything about how to make money but nothing regarding the problems of poor mental health.

He is not his doctor, carer or family. What do you want to do to show he knows about the problems regarding poor mental health?

A half dozen times he wished him well, hoped he got treatment, said he hoped he is back to the sport, that his health comes first etc but also answered about the boxing business context which is exactly what he should do

Exactly. He's responding to questions that are being put to him and they're not going to be along the lines of 'could you see the signs were there with Fury' or 'how would you help him if he was your fighter'.

Hearn deserves most of the shit that goes his way but this time he doesn't

If he's stripped surly he will become champion in recess or whatever it is and get first crack at the titles?

Very good level headed post.

If they do call depression, then i think the Fury's feel by claiming mental illness (depression) nobody can touch them, sanctioning bodies, media et all.

If he has genuine mental health issues, would he really have shown up at the fight on Saturday laughing and joking, when all the media and fans are speculating what is going on with him? It looks to me like they are pulling a fast one, for whatever reason they wanted/needed to get out of the fight.
