Anyone know whats happened to him?

Being a season tkt holder at Arsenal I followed his career as he was an avid gooner but he seems to have just disappeared.

Allegedly use to rave about him.

He lost a couple, so the hype probably dies a little. But he got stopped in 2 in his last fight, by a fighter with no other stoppage wins from 10 contests.

I didn't see it but that is a telling fact.

He was probably worried it might have a detrimental effect on his good looks

Was that not because of injury or something to his eye if I remember rightly?

He only raved about him because he sold hundreds of tickets, once he got beat and the numbers dropped he hardly got a mention, then they threw him into a 50-50 with McIntosh and he got done in 2 rounds. Be surprised if we saw him on TV again.

Lost to a pro loser too.

Had a bad injury to his eye which reoccurred for about two years. Was a top amateur and could be a good prospect if 100% healthy.

Don't mean to kick a guy when he's down but...a "top" amateur?

i think this guy found his level. was utterly clueless in the warburton 4 rounder, you'd have thought georgie was the guy with the 50 loss record who was brought in to lose, not the other way round

Id consider someone who boxed 6 times to win the London senior title (open class lads) and was unbeaten boxing for England a top amateur!

I'll be honest I don't follow the amateurs too much, but did he compete at the Euro's, Commonwealths, Worlds, Olympics? That tends to be the type of standard I'd go by for "top" rather than just fighting Internationally.

Flippant? I tend to think "top" is "top" a "top footballer" doesn't play in League 1, they play in the elite leagues. That's not being flippant, that's merely stating a fact. Top doesn't mean the top 2000 to me, it means elite, the creme de la creme, the best 2v0-30 in the world in their division. Calling people "top" because they win ABA titles devalues what it really is to be a top amateur. It was like people describing Charlie Edwards as a fantastic amateur yet he'd never really done much on the top tier of the amateur game either.

Winning an ABA title is nothing to be sniffed at but it's not a "top" honour in the grand scheme of things.

From a quick search it seems that as a senior Kean never got further than the quarterfinals of the National ABAs. Obviously he was quite good compared to the normal amateur boxer, but conversations here tend to focus on boxers who are at a much higher level than that, meaning the usual standard of comparison isn't the average guy in your average gym.

Without Kean having a senior national title or any serious international title (loads of active pros have won these) I don't think BP is really being flippant.
