Thank youBoxBuzz wrote:Yeah, I always wondered if he just got a bad DNA account, or he didn't have it in him to get into top shape.
With that said, I'm not sure I saw him gas out that often, so it could have been mother nature effin' with him.
If that's the case, he probably could have been top shelf, had he been able to drop some of the fat.
There was a fighter who logs on here from time to time who had the same sort of difficulty shedding pounds but was pretty effective in a way that belied his body structure. Chauncey Welliver. Much better boxer than it looked like he possibly could/should have been.
Had to respect him for overcoming that challenging deal of the cards.

NO! I really mean thank you. To be mentioned with Tony Tubbs is kinda cool. He was a World champ and gave some of the best fits.BoxBuzz wrote:Chauncy wrote:Thank youBoxBuzz wrote:Yeah, I always wondered if he just got a bad DNA account, or he didn't have it in him to get into top shape.

Uh oh....do I have to watch my back after my clumsy statement? lol. I hope you know you have mine (and many others) full respect!
Glad to hear from you! Hope all is well for you and yours!
By the way, looks to me like the only way Lucas Brown ended up with the W over you was by helpin' himself to a bit of the ol' supercharger formula...... What's your take on that?
Agreed. You really do. Look at a photo of me. Before a fight I tested positive for roids and I looked at the Dr. and said "REALLY?! Look at me."BoxBuzz wrote:Good to hear your feedback on Lucas. I guess you literally have to watch every bit of food you ingest to avoid something being fed to you that can foul a test. It could come from any source I suppose.

He wet on to say I obviously hadn't taken any but with all the supplements I was taking (150 pills a day + shakes, re-fuel powders & energy boosters) can form into a steroid when mixed sometimes. Obviously the case for me or my physique would have been a bit different. If I was juicing I must have bought from the worst seller ever!![]()
I was just born to bad genetics. I trained hard. In my title run I had strength and conditioning coaches who asked me to juice (this is the first time I've ever mentioned this away from them) but I felt I was so close to the title and would have actually loved to as it was common knowledge the other guys were, but I figured I already had horrible "bitch tits" and juicing could only make me look like Bob from the movie Fight Club.Tomasino wrote:Chauncy wrote:Agreed. Not meaning any disrespect here Chauncey but did you ever consider juicing? Did you have a bad diet? You could certainly fight and go more rounds than me and I'm a slim guy, but stamina has never been my strong point. All the best and merry Christmas
Thanks for the reply big guy, very honest, most boxers blank questions like this. I know several pros who juice. Also, with proper dosing and care you could have definitely improved your physique by burning up excess fat and using anti estrogens to deal with the chest issue. You did what you did the hard way. All the respect in the world for fighters like yourself. Take care and if possible keep posting you'd make the forum a richer placeChauncy wrote:I was just born to bad genetics. I trained hard. In all reality, I should have as I was never tested overseas and most of my fights were no in USA.
Hindsight being what it is, I should have. I'd have had more fire power and I went rounds easy anyway, but juice probably wouldn't have hurt my stamina situation.
No need to apologize my man, we're on a public forum and remember, hearing about weight is same same to me as it's been a life issue.davie wrote:Chauncy
Without wanting to sound disrespectful, I struggle to see how someone who trains for a living can put on so much weight. The training involved, if done properly, to fight up to 4 or 5 times a year should keep anyone in shape.
Looking at your record on here you were getting something right, weight wise from 2010 - 2012. You managed 11 bouts around the 238 mark, not a bad weight for an active 6'2" guy
Did you struggle with diet at other times? Did you train properly?
I do sympathise that some people do have "bad DNA" and naturally struggle more than others but I struggle to get my head round how someone who trains virtually the whole year round can't keep their weight Chaunc
Again apologies if this comes across a bit cheeky, there's not many polite sounding ways to ask someone why they struggle to keep their weight down.
