Braehmer-Clev spoiler

All those years of being protected, and when Jurg finally faced a good opponent who took it to him he quit.
Good fight (mediocre ending though), and I'm happy for Clev; a few losses aren't the end of the world.

Claiming a dislocated elbow now. If true, I can understand his decision to quit more, although of course it happens when he finally faces someone good.

Braehmer has been protected for 7 years. No one gets kept under protection for that long if there is any substance to them. They pretty much waited until he was retirement age to book him in his first fight.

Haven't seen it but from what I have read on the B & I rbr it was an excellent, competitive fight.

Braehmer was beating Cleverly and the injury seemed legit. There'll be a rematch and the Welshman will lose his title immediately. Neither man is good enough to carry the jockstrap of Ward or Kovalev.

Ya, it was a really good fight. Most of the rounds were extremely close, with Clev throwing more but Braehmer throwing cleaner, and the pace was fairly high throughout. I thought Braehmer really looked to be feeling it in the last round though, and wasn't shocked when he retired. Incidentally, Carl Froch commentated on the fight and I thought he was harsh toward Clev, like he still bore a grudge for some of the words they exchanged when Froch was active.
If there's a rematch I like Clev to win again, especially if it's in the UK. I thought he was breaking Jurgen's spirit in there , Jurg will be nearing 40 for a rematch, and if the injury really is serious it could negatively impact him in future fights.

Unfortunate for Braehmer but I am very happy for Cleverly.
Thanks for the rundown.

Didnt Braehmer beat Froch in the ams?
Ergo-the better Juergen is,the less worse it is for Carl to have been beating by him

He did. He also knocked out Hatton when they were juniors I think.

Exactly true. But I might buy a ticket to the Cleverly-Braehmer rematch of it's in Wales

I did have Braehmer ahead by a point due to his cleaner shots,he landed some nice punches but even by the 3rd i was thinking it will be interesting to see how he's coping with Nathan's relentless pursuit, even though at that point Clev was only landing arm punches,at 37 and with Braehmer having previous for getting flustered i knew Cleverly would keep going unless KO'd so i fancied him to win....although i did tip Braehmer to get a gift from the judges

I just watched the fight again and did not see any signs during the fight or between rounds showing that there was some NEW injury. It is hard to believe that an elbow got dislocated, and Braehmer's facial expression wouldn't reflect that or they wouldn't try to freeze the elbow between rounds. Most likely, Braehmer has a chronic issue which aggravated during the fight.
