If Tyson Fury is stripped of his belts, which seems likely after allegedly testing positive for cocaine, then, under the WBO rules, the 24-year-old Kiwi, will be the first boxer to be offered an opportunity to fight for the title.

Section 20 (see below) clearly states that if the World Championship is declared vacant, the two Best Classified Contenders Available, as determined by the Championship Committee, will be given the first option to negotiate a contract for the title.

Parker has been ranked number one in the WBO heavyweight division for the last eight months, (see below) and is also the mandatory number one challenger to Joshua’s IBF Heavyweight Title.
Only Harry Potter could pull off a WBO world title fight between Joshua and Klitschko, and the last time I looked, fast Eddie (Hearn) wasn't holding a wand," said Parker’s promoter Dean Lonergan today.

"As for Bernd Bonte, he's arrived on the scene as the evil wizard Voldemort but he won’t be able to conjure a miracle."

..two things: "may, in its descretion" - is the key wording here...and the second question being if using cocaine is in fact a violation of WBO rules..

Well, Wladimir Klitschko is still the WBO super champion, so I don't know if that would make the difference if he wanted to try and unify with another belt.

Unfortunately for Lonergan, that wording is hardly rock-solid.

It says "the two best classified contenders available as determined by the Championship committee"

i.e. not necessarily determined by the WBO rankings.

If the Championship Committee decide that the two best contenders are Klitschko and Joshua, I don't think Parker and his team will have a leg to stand on.

WBO Super champion is an honourary title. I think Pacman was given the Welterweight version by WBO

Exactly. And there are way more, Hopkins, Kovalev, JM Márquez, Montiel, Arce, Calderón, Nietes etc. etc. WBO Super Champion designation is for lifetime, and independant of weight class. If Pac beats Vargas, or Nietes wins the vacant flyweight title, they will both be Super Champions. :TU:

Does it come complete with an indefinite honorary ranking?

WBO will do what makes them the most money, as will the fighters and promoters.

I think it is very likely we will see Wlad vs AJ with Parker fighting either Price or Whyte on the undercard.

Can you show me on any WBO site that backs up what you are claiming because I must have been looking at The wrong LETTER AFTER WB thinking it was A when in fact it was O  So we now have WBO SUPER CHAMPION :oo

I think history has demonstrated that boxing commissions don't have any unbreakable rules. Tomorrow, Parker could find himself at #3 behind two other fighters who just got elevated overnight.

What makes WBO the most money is having Parker as champ who fights more in one year than most fighters fight in 5 years.

Having Klitchko as champ is useless because he is pushing 50 and fights once every 12 mthzzzzzzz

Exactly. Having Parker is champ benefits them.

Once he becomes champion, it'll be max 3 fights a year.

That's more than Klit and Fury.
