No fight against Ruiz, no fight on the undercard of Fury Klitschko II (at least for now), no fight lined up.

He's just turned 22 so no great rush but the heavyweight division is going to be wide open in the next 18 months, assuming Tyson is stripped. With his mysterious ailment now clearing up Peter should put all his focus on Hughie for the next 18 months to get him in the mix against the top contenders.

I know we had a similar thread a couple of months ago but in light of the last weeks developments I thought we'd go over it again.

He's got another 5 years at least before he gets to his peak, by then he could do pretty well.

Possibly, although we never know when a fighter is going to peak.

I know with heavyweights its usually late twenties (or older now) but do you think Hughie is going to keep fighting at his current level for the next five years and then step up?

I said Euro level on the poll because I see him as just below there atm and if he went for a title right now I think he'd be stopped. Doesn't mean to say he won't improve. Times on his side and there's no need to rush in although he needs stepped up gradually from now on in. The training wheels have to come off now. I'd make him favourite other the winner of Whyte or Lewison on Friday.

A great deal might depend on how professional Team Fury are over the coming years...the whole Tyson fiasco could mean they're further marginalised by the business and just given Hughie a really hard route to the top.

Hughie's personally blameless but that's not enough; so I would not be surprised if his journey as a contender may have just got a whole lot harder. They've hacked off a great deal of fans, boxing deal-makers, the governing bodies and TV folk and maybe Hughie is the one who gets the raw deal?

It is not inconceivable that he may have to do more fights in the other guy's backyard and go through more live contenders.

Boxing-wise I am still fence-sitting.

He moves really well, has quick hands and a nice variety of shots and can box at a good, high tempo for the HW class that fighters at a certain level don't like.

Alot of his fights I've seen, Hughie's been always buzzing around folk and peppering with them clean, scoring shots and throwing one more than his opponent is prepared for. And he looks pretty decent at slipping away before they fire back.

But I am worried about his lack of pop and physicality - even at this early stage - and wonder whether there comes point when one of the stronger guys who can hit just walks him down.

I could see Wilder - if he's still around - not being bothered by those jabs and just unloading and Haye would step-in and chance his arm as well.

The division remains depressingly weak and Hughie can box and has time...so he could nab a title...but I don't think he's going to be a dominant champ but rather a guy who can say he got a world title belt.

Maybe he'll get a shot vs a 47 year old Osquendo for the WBA ordinary strap one day.

Well I'm sure he can beat any fighter in Joshua's career so far so I don't think he needs to worry much about fighting at that level, he could still be champ without fighting the top echelon of fighters for a few years, a bit like every other heavyweight champion at the minute apart from Tyson that is.

Might be a touch left field here but maybe look to branch out on his own for a bit? Perhaps a new trainer, some new methods etc? Just distance himself a touch from the circus and learn on the job, maybe even over in the US?

With all the talk of failed drugs tests with Tyson, I'm feeling more concerned by the acne on Hughie's back and talk of allergies.

In fairness you look on the team fury Twitter page he looks quite well.

However don't forget he is part of the UKAD issue as well. Sure someone reported a B sample for Tyson came back negative no mention of Hughie I think.

Be very interesting when this all comes out.

I've always quite rated Hughie and personality wise seems to be the polar opposite to his cousin.

It's shame they didn't take the Whyte fight that would have answers questions of both of them.

He would have been the youngest world heavyweight champion if the press hadn't been horrible to his cousin.

a skilled boxer who will operate at world level for a long time if his health issues are truly behind him. lack of power is the main concern and although he will get stronger I don't think he will ever have the ko power to be the complete package I think he will win some type of world title though assuming he can stay healthy,

He's really advanced for his age in terms of his boxing brain. So at the very least he could be a solid gatekeeper. I think he could go a little further but it depends how his health is.

If he wasn't so lathergic I don't think his power would be as big an issue. Even with the power he hasif he was able to keep moving jabbing and or feinting and throw some combos I think he'd be a test for anyone.

I see him reaching European level. He really uses his height and reach well.

Unless he develops a bit more punch power I can't see him getting to world level. People will take a chance of just walking through him.

Most important thing for him though is to get healthy and the drug scandal behind him also.

I haven't watched Hughie in a long time as i was never particularly interested in the kid, although he seems the nicest of all the Fury's and his on camera awkwardness makes him seem honest and likeable.

I remember thinking that it looked like he was pulling his punches a bit, which is interesting if I'm right: I thought he might have more pop than he is letting on, if you know what I mean?

Never particularly rated him though: they compare his competition to Joshua and yeah Fred Kassi is an alright win but didn't the kid just get mullered by Jarrel Miller, who nobody thinks is any great shakes?

I agree that he should try training with a different camp for a bit. The Fury's are all nutters. They've obviously made loads and loads of bad decisions, their training methods are a joke (anybody who has seen the strength and conditioning YouTube videos will attest), they have no media savvy, threaten and bully anybody that dare criticise or play the race card and come across as increasingly paranoid and bitter. Even the Fury apologist posters in here spent half their time posting about how we'd never say this stuff in front of them because they breathe fire and can beat up the whole room on their own (I personally would take Eubank Snr to smash John Fury in a battle of the mental boxing dads). I think a move away from all of that would suit Hughie. But it would be like defecting from North Korea or something: you'd suddenly see the world in a completely different light.

I also think getting the hell away from Hennesey would help. He's so low rent. Tyson Fury sold himself. Hennesey is a terrible promoter.

Whats going to happen to Hughie ? - the best he can hope for is Clearasil bring our a stronger range for his bacne.

He has the personality to match his talent and without Tyson on the scene to cling on to he is going nowhere - if his dad did not choose and personally pay the purse of every opponent he has faced do you think he would still be unbeaten ?
