Haye says he's fighting Dec 10th - could it be Browne in the other corner?

Boxing media and the jungle drums seem to be beating this at the moment.

While I'm not suggesting it's impossible, Lucas Browne is meant to be negotiating with Fres Oquendo to contest the vacant WBA belt.

Then again, if Oquendo doesn't come up fit and willing or he has agreed to stand-aside money, Browne vs Haye for the belt would make a lot of sense.

Haye brings in more $$$ than Browne, so Oquendo may well be best off taking some step-aside cash and then fighting Haye, assuming the latter defeated Browne. I imagine that Haye would see Oquendo as an easy defense too.

Oquendo would be a much safer fight for Browne than Haye. It would also give Browne the bargaining power of the WBA belt if he met Haye afterwards.

de Mori, whom Haye absolutely obliterated, was once a regular sparring partner and sometime friend of Browne. I don't think they speak these days. But if they did, I think de Mori would be strongly recommending Oquendo over Haye.

I had forgotten that Browne wasn't the WBA regular champ any longer. I imagine that having that belt would definitely give him more leverage in negotiations with Haye, although Haye is a pretty big draw and may be able to offer him enough to take a bout regardless.

Wow. It seems there's no end in sight to the twists and turns of the current heavyweight saga.

If Haye vs Parker is correct, I assume it is Joshua vs Wlad for the IBF title? Even though last I checked, Wlad didn't even have a ranking there?

Hearing Lucas Browne says he knows nothing about a fight involving him and Haye.

The WBO are due to convene in Puerto Rico on October 18 to discuss Tyson Fury's situation. Until that is resolved it is hard to see how fights involving that title can be signed off on.

Joseph Parker's promoter Dean Lonergan will be in attendance in Puerto Rico, eager to hear the outcome.
