Hi everyone, sorry to butt in.

Having not seen the fight I have been somewhat hesitant to comment about it, but even if the rumours of Tyson's knee giving out are true -- call me Mr Paranoid when it comes to Tyson -- what we've got here is an aged, shot shell. I think he's in the same boat as Holyfield, not as physically diminished in terms of decline in motor response and brain cell count but just as fucked overall, because of his appalling physical condition.

Anyway, basically I say sod Tyson, make some decent money fighting an eliminator with Rahman or someone and then a shot at a title. Think of doing something that will make Danny Williams go down in history as more than a one-night oddity or wonder. fornicate it, if he gets his arse in gear he's got the potential to pick up an alphabet title, defend it against Tyson in a rematch, and be ready to fight whoever's standing out of the harrison/skelton situation (because both those two would definitely need some seasoning to compete, the extra year would benefit them).

I would rather see Williams go straight into a title shot whilst his confidence and profile is high, strike whilst the iron is hot you may say.

As for Tyson, he should retire, all thats left for him in Boxing I feel are novelty fight with Butterbean and the Russian Vakuev or at best a payday against another fallen warrior Roy Jones or a come backing Riddick Bowe or Holyfield. Also don't rule out a Lennox Lewis comeback if Bowe wins a few fights.

We will have to wait and see but I would think there is quite a good chance we will see a rematch.

If it does happen I would probably favour Williams but still think Tyson could win.

In the first two rounds you saw who the better boxer was, if only Tyson still had the stamina to go the distance Williams would probably have been just another guy who survived to the end but lost by large margins.

Danny was lucky Mike tore up his knee. If that hadn't happened, Mike would've knocked Danny TFO. In the rematch, Mike will knock Danny TFO.

bennie is right. The biggest load of bollocks talked over the weekend is that Mike's career is over. Maybe it should be - but as sure as sure can be, he'll be back. Unless he meets some kind of sorry end before then, God forbid.

Mike's career IS over, at least as a top flight fighter. The American public are not going to shell out 45 dollars to watch a guy who got his ass whupped by a British 'fall-guy.' It's over. Arum has just withdrawn the deal he had on the table with Tyson, who the hell is going to put the money up for a guy who cannot even beat British also-rans, which is how they will see it over there.

He may be back, but he is never going to be an elite fighter, and it's a case of diminishing returns.

He's already beyond that stage. Louis was still beating top ranked fighters until he ran into Marciano, I think Tyson has already deteriorated way beyond that point. He was already at that stage when Lewis thumped the living daylights out of him. He's finished, and I hope that Roach convinces him to retire, I know he's in debt, but he could end up dead if he continues fighting. He was really wobbly after the Williams fight, he took a pretty awful barrage in there, and he's now been badly beaten up in two of his last 3 contests.

Yes, their stories do seem to be ending up similarly. Poor old Louis ended up as a cocaine addicted greeter in casinos, I really don't want to see that happen to Mike. They hounded the poor bastard to the end of his days.

Someone has to get him involved in some sort of boxing programme, I think Tyson could make an excellent youth worker, he apparently thrived doing so when he did community service.

Tyson has outstanding knowledge of the sport, maybe he could work with Roach to train youngsters, imagine how they would respond to being with Tyson, despite his dissipation, he is still a living legend.

Tyson hasn't had the stamina for 12 rounds for a decade.

I actually STILL think its a little premature from writing off Tyson all together, sure this defeat has done alot of harm for his credibility and marketability - but if you noticed the showtime guys, it was still all about Tyson even after the defeat. We are all saying Tyson is shot to shit now, but how many where honestly saying it during those first three rounds.

Okay, Tyson has no stamina, but still (as Danny said) many world class fighters would have fallen during that fight, however it was inspired Williams - a fighter who always had many world class skills.

As Ian Darke quite rightly said, for the three rounds Tyson looked as good as he looked in years and many a fighter would have fallen.
