Just sat and watched the first round of the Sajeev Sahota fight. Home fighter and big ticket seller against a journeyman.
Sahota gets knocked down in the round ref obviously at first doesn't want to call a knockdown but it's clear he is all over the shop so he has to. Starts counting at 4 when he has been down for 7 seconds already! Then takes excessive time putting him in the neutral corner before restarting the fight!
He goes down at 1:53 in the round and the ref does not allow them to start resume action until 1:35- 18 seconds recovery time and it's 1:33 and 20 seconds before they are able to engage.

He then comes under relentless pressure until the end of the round which in my opinion would have resulted in the journeyman being halted.

Yeah thought exactly the same, also the jupp decision was terrible.

He was definitely allowed longer than 10 seconds to recover and It could have been stopped its amazing he wasn't more hurt.

But he fought back well for the win but the refereeing was dubious.

Watch how quick in comparison the refs count is when Kliminov went down against Walsh as well.

I give Sahota credit though,he showed some balls to dig in and get on with it.Fonz slowed up for him tbh but he showed some desire and prob learned loads about himself.

that was pretty funny, the ref kept looking ringside as he was counting as if he was looking for someone and thinking "am i getting sacked for doing this?"

It's not funny, it's as clear as Carl Froch's old nose that that was dodgy. Deplorable refereeing and depressingly it's becoming something we seem to just accept as fans. It's cheating ffs.

It's an absolute disgrace. The boxing media and broadcasters are complicit in it because nobody speaks out about it unless it's abroad.

Yeah clearly the hapless ref is treading on egg shells there, not wanting to incur the wrath of a huge following, which includes everyone involved in the promotion.
Though to be fair, the first punch that does the damage is so innocuous, it actually looks like it's missed him, hence the baffled ref helping our chinny hero to his feet.

Reminded me off Thompson/Price 1,it didnt look much but it hit the right spot and the legs never lie,superb battle though and Sahota has got some stones,Alexander seemed content to lose IMO,letting Sahota hit him at will was wreckless and costly in the end

17 seconds in total including slight delay to do the count, then the 'ol 'I'm checking if he's fit to continue' then buying some extra time taking him for a walk far away from his opponent in the opposite corner.

Sahota could easily have been stopped in that round, he took a total shellacking, I think Fonz punched himself out.

Sahota has those annoying fans also who don't even like boxing, it looked like they turned up for one fight then cleared off.

Yep near identical shot, i'm sure the referee didn't even realise it was a knockdown until he saw his legs wobbling, that's when he started panicking

He stood hands down letting him hit him for about 5 seconds and I think he only landed 1 flush shot
