Haye and Amir Khan have been removed from the WBC rankings according to an article im reading on a facebook boxing group. This seems to have been done as the WBC have released names of boxers who refused to join a 'clean up boxing campaign' by the WBC to root out drug cheats.

According to skysports Khan has now registered. Haye, Pascal, Martirosyan, Peterson, Barthelemy, Verdejo, Gamboa and Viloria still haven't though and will be removed from the rankings. Interesting.

Think Khan has always been a supporter of the stay clean campaigns. I should imagine it's more a case of boxers not getting round to it at the mo rather than refusing to join. If they get removed from he rankings then that's another thing all together.

Why wouldn't they join?

Nothing the alphabet boys does surprises me, but removing a boxer from your ranking for non boxing reasons, when they haven't committed any crimes or misdemeanours is beyond pathetic.

Not in my opinion. It is very much boxing reasons. Being clean or dirty in the ring is very much relevant. It can only be positive trying to find and catch drug cheats and attempt to make the sport clean and drug free. If someone is not willing to sign up to a programme that is about drugs, then they should be out.

Don't want to be out? Just sign up to a drug programme, pretty simple, give me one reason why not to?

Now the effectiveness to said initiative is open to debate, but that is besides the point as it is at least an attempt

You can't compete at the Olympics in any sport unless you submit to random testing, why should you box for a world title?
Doping is an epidemic in boxing and anything that is done to stamp it out is a good thing.

I would have thought both Haye and Khan get randomly tested by UKAD already, so I don't understand why they wouldn't sign up. Sounds like incompetence, probably not helped by them not having a promoter that sorts these things out for them. You would imagine someone from Matchroom/Warren doing all the organising for their boxers and making sure they sign the forms.
