Doing it I thought, maybe fans will forgive the Garcia cherry picks if he beats Thurman or is part of a real classic. Can only speak for myself, I forgave Calzaghe and Hatton for fighting some shit opposition the minute they beat Lacy/Kessler, Tszyu/fought Floyd etc.
What you think?

This fight is a disgrace. To fight a non-title fight when he had contenders (even ones from Philly) out there begging for the opportunity is just shameful.
He was basically given this title by the WBC, only having to fight Guerrero to get it, and now hasn't defended it in nine months. He turns down every ranked opponent available and decides to take a non-title fight. By the time (if) he fights Thurman he will have held the title well over a year without even a VOLUNTARY defense!
How does the WBC not strip him?

Yes, nothing papers over the cracks in a fighters resume better than a good win, just look how high Brook went in everyones estimations after beating Porter despite that being his only world class win.

Danny Garcia has thrown his career away the last few years. He may have thrown his heart out with it. Not sure he'll have what it takes to beat anybody like Thurman anymore or if he ever did.

Everybody wants to know what to do with #ISIL - just let Al Haymon sign them, that'll put an end to all the fighting! #boxing #PBC

I think they would, he has the potential to have some great fights but he has been frustrating since pasting Khan which I loved

PBC could be using fights like Garcia/Thurman to secure some kind of future TV network deal.
Or they could just be screwing us by making Danny Garcia's 2016 be equal to Canelo's.

I think that DSG is getting special treatment and leniency from WBC on this defense because of the charity that he's opening up in Philly and the verbal to fight One Time in the next one.
It's clearly a "stay busy" fight that is all the rave now. If we are upset with DSG then we also have to be upset with Ward and Kovalev. This fight between Thurman and Garcia is not exactly AS big as the Ward/Kov fight but it's pretty darn close. It's one of the top 5 fights that can be made right now in boxing i think. So i'll take that and look past this one.
And one more thing, if DSG beats Thurman and I think that he will be Thurman's toughest test to date, then you have to start talking about DSG as one of the elites. Yes he's had a couple of fights against poofs but let's not forget that he's also defeated Mattyhysse and Peterson in the last 3 years. And Matthysse was on the crest of P4P type of dominance at the time.
So I think DSG deserves more credit than he's getting.

I'm sorry but that's just nonsense. Elite's don't duck every single decent fighter available.

Nonsense is knocking Garcia for his opposition and ducking when his resume is ten times better than Thurman's. Thurman has one value win over Porter but the rest is garbage and he's been in the Welterweight division a lot longer than Garcia has. With the talent that's been at 147 for so long, Thurman has had one meaningless fight after another. Meanwhile, Garcia has defeated Khan, Peterson, Matthysse, Judah, Holt etc. Misplaced criticism my bro.

Garcia always finds a way to win as he showed in Khan, Matthysse, Herrera and Peterson fights. Thurman has a glass body, also his chin is suspect as Karass showed.

Crawford said he would fight Garcia, so did Spence. DG said Spence needed to build himself up some more, or some horseshit - but then DG signs to fight a guy that Spence already KO'd. DG gave pretty much the same lame excuse at Thurman did to fight Spence....then Thurman fought Collazo.
Whatever. I have defended DG a lot for always finding a way to win, but the Salka fight, now this? Please...

Thurman has always found a way to win too
So I guess they will both beat each other in this fight? Mind blown

I'm not saying Thurman has fought anyone good.
I'm just saying that Garcia was GIVEN a title 9 months ago and has never defended it. Now to keep from defending it he does this.
I just don't think he should be able to keep the belt.
