The best boxer Beppu has faced so far is probably Matsunaga, who just won the WBO
Asia Pacific super welter belt, and Beppu got tagged a lot in that fight.
Bellamy, by contrast, has beaten almost all the top guys in Japan (except Nonaka, to
whom he lost a 2-1 decision), and a few others like King Davidson. Lost on points
to Jermell Charlo (Charlo down in round 3) as well.
Team Beppu may be betting on Bellamy's inactivity or age (35), but Charlie
is a physical specimen and very intelligent fighter. Beppu brings the heat,
but will he able to bank on bum rushing Bellamy? Unlikely.
But what makes this fight even more interesting is that it appears that Bellamy
has never faced a blitzer like Beppu. Kyungsuk Kwak was of similar stature, but
a grinder, not a puncher (and a southpaw).
Also interesting is the Bellamy is just a little shorter than Beppu.
