Larry said he was ill prepared for the Tyson fight. In your opinion, would he still beat Mercer?

Probably. Larry fought Tyson when Mike was at the peak of his mental game, married, thought he was about to be a father. Mike was awesome in 88. Tubbs gave Bowe a good fight in 91. Larry of 88 would look much better against anyone but Tyson.

Ray Mercer was absolutely made for Larry Holmes.. It didn't matter that Larry was 42 with a big pot belly, He could beat Mercer 8 days a week

The thing is, Mercer couldn't attack well like Tyson did.. He stood off of you like Foreman did.. That's why Jimmy Young did so well with Foreman.. George stayed back too much and let Young jab and counter him to death.. And that's what Holmes did all night to Mercer.. But anybody who led with their head like Norton or Frazier, Foreman would crush anybody who did that.. Mercer had it easy with Tommy Morrison, who was 28-0 and favored to win.. Morrison came after Mercer and swung wild shots.. He was very available to be hit.. Mercer took everything Tommy threw and murdered him.. That was brutal.. Styles always make fights.
