He has to make 10-9 max at the weigh in, according to Jon it looks like Sam may elect to stay at 10-7 and if the title is still on the line he can win it with a victory but Gavin cannot. That's normally the way these things work but who knows.

I think he's gone as far as a pro as he ever would, he just doesn't have enough slickness to offset his lack of power. Anything past 6-8 rounds he just doesn't have it.

Gavin always struck me as just being in boxing for the money/lifestyle. The writing was on the wall at the olympics. I can't remember any other fighter who didn't make weight at the olympics in the history of the olympic games.

Curtis was asking Gavin what happened and the Attention seeking whore who threatens disabled children piped up. He was probably attention starved after his failed attempts at bagging himself a famous girlfriend to make up for his joke of a boxing career.

That would be an incredible stupid idea as it is. Aside from being incredibly unhealthy; trying to ear only beans on toast once a day would cause you'd body to go into starvation mode, making it really hard to shift any way. I'm sure you already know that anyway but yeah bizarre for a professional athlete to come out with something like that.

I often think that in many cases, a fighter's temperament for dedication finds a level along with their talent.

As a fighter realises that he perhaps isn't quite as good as he himself and others had him believe, so the level of dedication drops off to match, - psychologically this makes failure easier to cope with, as the fighter can tell himself he did very well for someone who couldn't be bothered to train hard.

It's something people in all walks of life do, and then when they are old men, they bore people in pubs with "I could have been xyz - but I never really threw myself into it fully."

I've been telling myself the same for years, but recently I have concluded that perhaps I'm nowhere near as talented as I thought I was, or perhaps I'm just scared. Who knows.

However, the point remains that people in some senses are self-limiting, they drive themselves to the level of accomplishment that suits them best.
