Hello,

Does anyone know the financial implications/punishments for a fighter weighing above the weight limit?

For example; say, if a (£60k) purse tonight was 50/50 split, £30,000 to each fighter, would they incentivize Eggington to agree to not cancel by giving him £40,000 and punish Gavin by paying him £20,000?

Does anyone know exactly what happens?

No but I'm interested to know this too. Wouldn't be right for Gavin to get off Scott free. He doesn't need titles to get big fights so not being able to win it has no real impact on him

Not sure, though talking about punishments for missing weight, I like the Filipino way of doing things, make the fighter wear bigger gloves. It sounds silly but it does seem to be effective

Ah, I see, it's in the contract beforehand, and is similar (but to a lesser monetary scale), to when Mayweather paid Marquez $1m for each pound he was over the agreed catchweight?

Mayweather had to pay $300,000 per pound he was over wouldn't be surprised if eggington had something like this in the contract though gavin is known for struggling to make weight

Im sure once you have weighed in, u get paid so Sam didn't have to agree to the fight. Gavin will have to pay an agreed amount to Sam out of his purse for missing weight and for the fight to go ahead.

I have another question, I saw the weighin on YouTube and it appeared Frankie Gavin weighed 149.7lbs, yet everyone on Twitter was saying that he was 6lbs overweight. Is this a welterweight title fight? What was he supposed to weighin at?

Hang on, your answer is bullshit. I've thought about this mathematically. And the scales are British, so to a pound to 0.00-10.00, I get it now, I see the missing pounds.
