Gavin says he has two choices

A) Rematch

B) 140lbs/LWW

If he can suddenly make it now, why didn't he do it in the first place and save him the embarrassment of last night.

He should of realised you can't be getting pushed back with ease in sparring by Stuey Hall and expect to be strong enough to compete at WW.

He won't be able to make 140lbs, and what's the point of a rematch? He was well beaten.

If the only reason Gavin wants to continue boxing is financial, then it's sad. I can't see any big paydays for him now.

Why not? He's a tiny, fat mess at welterweight.

If he stops abusing his body so much then he should be able to make 140 lbs pretty easily.

That anecdote doesn't surprise me as much as it should

The rematch that is more interesting is Eggington vs Skeete.

Nobody cares about gavin anymore. I think people just got fed up with his BS.

The blueprint is out on beating him. Just come forward and counter his shots with body shots. His body is generally pretty open and he cannot take it to the body, gets hurt every time. Bundu, Brook and Eggington all got him going with body shots. Gavin is not that good or slippery on the inside at all. His will can be broken easily.

One of the worst stylistic matchups for him in recent years would have been Ricky Hatton.

At 140 he could have done something but it's far too late now. I'd make him cannon fodder for Josh Taylor at domestic level.

Gavin has had weight issues throughout his whole career, yet everyone says "He should be at 140". He won't make 140 for a fight, especially with his case history.

And 'abusing his body' is a typically nasty and ill considered expression to use. It could also be argued that he would be abusing his body to make 140.

And let's face it, Horse, you know f**k all about what weight he should or shouldn't be at, don't you old bean?

You've got to be pretty silly to think Gavin would ever make 140 at a weigh in. Even if a fight is scheduled for 140. He doesn't have the discipline.

Theoretically if Gavin could make 140, which he has the skeletal dimensions to do, just not the will or discipline, then I think he'd give Burns problems, Burns is there to be hit and we saw how he struggled with the movement of Crawford. If Gavin could emulate that (big "if") of course, then I could see him maybe nicking a split.

it is a shame that were so far down the line in Gavins career that maybe the only title shot he could get would be as a late replacement for burns or another LWW, he has the talent but not the discipline, will look back on his career with disappointment. what could have been.

He's not big or strong enough at WW, simple as that, if he can't discipline himself to make 140, then he should just quit, what's the point?

I think he should probably just call it a day, he doesn't seem to have the dedication, and it's not a sport you can afford to be half arsed at.

It's not like he has bones made of neutrons, or that he's a cyborg with a metal skeleton, he's a human being, and he is clearly podgy and soft at 147, so there's no reason he cannot make 140, other than poor practices.

If you watch his interview with IFL after the fight he says he knows he will never be a world champ at 147.

I don't think he's mentally strong enough to make 140. He's never made it as a pro.

He made it once against Michael Kelly.

Agree it's all mental with Gavin. He doesn't have the mental strength or emotional maturity to conduct himself as a professional athlete in a sport that demands total dedication to reach the top. Time to just move on.

Don't think he will ever get over losing to a local rival who he thought he was leagues above.

Skeete is too good for Eggington , he'd do the same as he did first time out.

Skeets was too good for Frankie Gavin IMO. Felt sorry for him when I watched that result. He well deserved the nod but has an unattractive style

I used to hate watching Skeete but he's been a lot better to watch in recent fights imo. Really enjoyed his performance against Eggington, although obviously it was a great match for him stylewise.

Skeete did fuckk all for much of the Gavin fight; I don't have a problem with that decision.

He's got good skills but he'll never set the world alight. I don't mind watching him but I can see why others may think he's a bit witteresque. Really nice guy as well, I'd like to see him win the euro title (genuine not wbo)

The bare bones of it is,he got knocked out by his polar opposite.Who by rights a few years ago, would of been a laughable match up.

The Eggington that Gavin lost to would not have been a joke opponent for Gavin a few years ago.

Sam Eggington would have been one of Gavin's best wins if he could have got that result.

Agree with all above , but another point is , his style , legs wide apart looking for a big shot he does'nt have , the bluprint is and always was there to beat him ,, walk on him and double , ttreble your punches , he has trouble moving quickly when he has feet so wide apart , and he does'nt have the power to hurt you like say Naz did with legs apart , waiting to counter ,, Obviously the bigger he goes the more his style is against him

I've heard alot of people suggesting Gavin lost last night's fight because he should be a lightweight/ Light-Welterweight.

In my humble uneducated opinion, the reason for last night's defeat runs much deeper then him being at the wrong weight.

Yes Sam looked alot bigger and yes he is not at the correct weight, but I believe the problem mainly relates to people getting too hyped up about his World Amateur Championship win.

However, many of the GB team which was around when Gavin was the height of his head guard days have struggled with the physicality of the pro game.

I saw someone earlier likening the amateur game of 2007/2008 as fencing with gloves, and I tend to agree.

Yes Gavin is a skilled boxer, but there are hundreds of skilled fighters who don't have toughness, dig, conditioning o,physicality or chin to become a World Champion, unfortunately Frankie Gavin is one of them.

It's sad but he has completely messed his own career up now, and I don't believe making 140lbs wil make any difference.

It is laughable however, that he thought he could go to the top in a division that contains some absolute beasts. Could you imagine what Shaun Porter would of done to poor Frankie last night?

Like I said earlier, I imagine he isn't in a good place right now. It is going to really hurt losing to a guy who he believed he was leagues above and I think that has been his problem his whole career.

I doubt he trained as hard as really could.

Very sad and as stupid as it sounds i didnt enjoy watching him lose like that.
