Atrocious,

Was Gavin the only man in the ring? Even when eggington had successes, it was dismissed blatantly.

Biased bum gravy of the highest order. Why do the SKY team persist with this sort of agenda?

I think Jamie Moore was liking Gavins work a bit too much sbd wasn't giving Egginton too much credit but Coldwell balanced it out well and Clark is far better than Halling or Smith for me.

Jim watt does this sort of crap too when a Scottish fighter is fighting drives me mad. I switched the Gavin fight off as I thought the same after 4 rounds :witzend:

Macklin was horrendous and is pretty poor as a commentator. I would have thought Sky would have distanced themselves from him due to his association with MGM. It's disappointing.

It seems to be a "jobs for the lads" mentality. I pine for the long gone days of Ian darke. I used to criticise him for his almost motson esque anecdotes, but it seems like commentary gold compared to the dire crap put forth now.

Darke really was in a league of his own.

We should start a petition. Darke and Woodhall would be great for me. I enjoy Barry jones and rawling as a partnership too. Best thing on allegedly.

He was a total homer for Gavin. Saying it was the best he's ever boxed overlooking Eggingtons win. He used the word frenetic too many times in the Davies fight too.

Sky's commentary team are sh1t in general. Coldwell is fine. I don't really mind Froch or Barker either.

It pains me to say it as I'm far from keen on him, but paul smith isn't bad either. Should retire from being the perennial 6 round "world level" fighter to concentrate on media work

Totally agree, really annoyed me, particularly Macklin who just seemed to be openly sticking up for his pal. Pathetic commentary, it took away from the excitement of the fight itself as they weren't giving credit to the inroads Eggington was making until the shit hit the fan and Gavin went down.

The problem is and this happens with commentary and analysis on all sports is that because you've done the sport that it somehow it makes you qualified to be an expert on it.

Even when being overpowered on the inside, gavin was praised defensively. I've commentated a bit myself. Am no world beater, but always try to call it fairly, even at the expense of the "home" fighter. It really irks me.

Constant talking too can be unnecessary. Less can be more a la gutteridge. Allow the viewer to draw their own conclusion.

You could see Eggington was having more and more success and he was figuring out how to land the body shots and force Gavin to stand and have to get involved in a fight but they were not looking at it from that perspective. Watching the fight back I could see how Eggington was trying to time some counter shots to the body and you knew he was going to hurt Gavin if he got it right and invariably that is what happened a few times.

Macklin really provided nothing in terms of technical analysis other than constantly bumming Gavin. He was even trying to make out that Gavin was choosing to go to the ropes and take punches.

Funny, because as biased as the commentators may have been toward Gavin (I had it on mute) they had Egg well ahead (69-63 and 68-64 or 68-63) and didnt give Frankie some rounds that could've fairly gone his way.

Agreed. I was surprised they were giving rounds to Eggington considering what they were saying

The only rounds I gave Eggington were the ones he scored the knockdowns and the 2nd one was wrong IMO, he was having his moments but I thought Gavin was boxing very well actually ,but as suspected he was in trouble as he tired

While Frankie was a heap on the floor and Sam was celebrating his victory Coldwell was telling us how Good Frankie was to get through the fight and how entertaining he was.
