Anthony Ogogo hopes to continue his career next year after revealing he has a double fracture of his eye socket.

Great Britain's 2012 Olympic bronze medallist suffered the first defeat of his professional career when his corner pulled him out in the 11th round of a middleweight bout against Craig Cunningham in Birmingham on Saturday.

Ogogo (11-1, 7 KOs), who was knocked down by a right hook in the second round, had been suffering from blurred vision and an eye specialist confirmed on Monday the Lowestoft boxer may have sustained the injury before fighting Cunningham.

"After seeing an eye specialist today it turns out that I have fractured my eye socket in two places," Ogogo said. "Given this my vision and balance were affected to the point that I had to be pulled out.

"As soon as I went back to the corner after the first round I realised something was wrong, although at the time was unaware of the extent of it."

Ogogo, 27, is now ruled out until the latter half of 2017 at least after the latest setback in a career blighted by injuries.
Another year setback for him..

Not being funny, you can dislike him but laughing at a serious injury and maybe the end of someone's career is low.

Was Kell Brook's a double fracture? or just 1?

If a guy with 3 KOs in 20 fights can do that much damage to a fighter who is already so freakishly injury prone, perhaps a safer occupation is in order?

To be fair it's a good excuse for his dreadful performance. However, like people have said, it was at a low-ish level and this combined with the other injuries just makes you think he has too weak a frame to make a proper go out of pro boxing. No shame in that, it's a tough sport and tons of people get injuries and have to leave it.

People say all kinds of stupid things though don't they. Craig is ranked in the GB top ten and just outside the world top 50, is on the way up not down and has never lost a 'normal' fight (his only loss being in a 3 round Prizefighter contest to a man also undefeated apart from a British title fight against Chris Eubank Jnr).
