I've read some many different accounts of this fight that it is driving me nuts and there is no clip of it readily available online. I've heard everything from it was a close fight could be a draw, to Kovalev was knocked down, to Boone was totally dominated. Let's get to the bottom of this. How did the fight really play out?

Kovalev dominated... He was not dropped or hurt like some lying idiots contend... Andre Ward was dropped and almost knocked out by Boone.
Sergei was angry at the scoring and wanted to fight Boone again.. He put him away very quickly and easily in the rematch.

Kovalev dominated in early rounds, but didn't finish the job. He was then dropped in round 7, but managed to get himself together. The fight was in Boone's home town, and Kovalev was literally unknown, so there was no robbery.

That's WRONG... Boone never dropped Kovalev... That rumor got started because Boone dropped Andre Ward and knocked out Adonis Stevenson.

guess this press release is incorrect?
This past Saturday night in Atlanta, Light Heavyweight sensation Sergey Kovalev ran his record to a perfect 10-0 with 9 KO’s as he was taken distance for the first time in his career and scored an eight round decision over veteran upset specialist Darnell Boone.
This was a great learning experience for Kovalev, who was sent to canvas for the first time in his career in round seven but stood up to win victory.

Rumor ??? This Russian article
http://allboxing.ru/archives/2010-10-12_21_20.html published 3 days after the fight must be based on rumors.

here is another story from a writer who was there.
http://rollingout.com/2010/10/13/top-pu ... ng-series/
Atlanta’s Darnell Boone battled undefeated Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev in the main event. The two battled for seven rounds while trading punches that could topple a building. Although Boone knocked Kovalev down twice, the judges awarded Kovalev the split decision.
Even through no video exist of this fight, Kovalev got dropped in this fight.

It seems unlikely that Kov got dropped twice if the scores listed on BoxRec are correct. That's also the only time I've read a suggestion that it was multiple knockdowns.

That's exactly what happened according to people who actually saw the fight.
Kovalev
was knocked down ONCE, but clearly won the fight. It was similar to Ward-Boone.

Boxrec lists knockdowns along with the fights and they report none ... and from reports I heard there was no knockdown. However I didn't check the scores.
But hmmm...a 76-75 score would be consistent with Kovalev winning 5 rounds -- thereby earning 77 points to 75 for Boone -- and losing 1 point due to a knockdown by Boone.. The 3rd judge appears to have scored it even in rounds -- giving Boone the edge by 1 point -- which also implies a single knockdown... The only other LIKELY way you get that score is if they each win 4 rounds and Kovalev scores a 2-point round on 2 judges cards and Boone scores a 2-point round on the other... That's not as likely... So I'll change my mind because the scores imply a knockdown.

The original post question is "who actually watched the fight". Your first comment is "kov dominated, he was not not dropped or hurt like some lying idiots contend". Now it seems you haven't "actually watched the fight" because you've changed your tune and have contradicted yourself. It's really strange that you would even comment on this post, taking such a strong stance, calling people idiots and liars for saying kov was dropped. I for one haven't seen the fight and was interested to know the facts of what happened because it's unavailable to see otherwise (youtube). It's pretty frustrating when your interested in a topic and people like you are spouting misinformation. It's also funny that you said a person would be a liar and idiot for not aligning with your view but it seems now that you are both, and these words come from you. Of course someone like you isn't going to listen to any advice I give but I'll give it anyway, I've noticed it from you quite a bit, I think you should actually watch the fights not just read the stats. Also its ok not to know everything, every fighter, every fight. Hell, a lot of the the lighter weight champions I've never heard of. Can you just do better? Can you be better. For the sake of the boxing and this forum, just get better.
