It seems that boxing forum junkies are critical of nearly every potential heavyweight match. . . . So I want to know who are the only worthy ones? . .

Luis Ortiz
Bryant Jennings
Kubrat Pulev
Joseph Parker
Alexander Povetkin

Some of the other Top 20-ish guys aren't horrible either, but it gets annoying when guys fight only guys outside the Top 10.

Not counting the two champions - Joshua and Wilder.

In my opinion fighting any of these 10 (as of right now), could be considered as fighting a worthy contender:

Klitschko
Ortiz (interim champion doesn't count as a real belt)
Parker
Povetkin
Browne
Haye
Pulev
Hughie Fury
Ruiz Jr (replaced by Washington after Parker beats Ruiz Jr)
Jennings or Glazkov (both after losses, but would still be accepted as a worthy contender imo)

..I guess I would exclude Browne and H. Fury from this list...

Yeah I Wlad Klitschko obviously. I just I'm just so used to thinking of him as Champion it's hard for me to imagine now that he's just a contender again.

The whole division ... no one fighter has a solid claim to the top spot.

So everyone is a bum. . . Just as I thought. . . So eliminate the division and award David Haye the eternal title?

Right now and for the past year or two, Luis Ortiz is the elite heavyweight on the planet, and beats all of them... Simple!

I'd probably take Jennings off but otherwise I agree. It's hard for me to see Jennings as a viable contender after the way Ortiz obliterated him ultimately.

I think Jennings is a very good fighter but a little below the top dogs of the division.

Ortiz knocked him out, but it was a competitive fight up to that point. Jennings would be a handful for Wilder or Joshua. Way more dangerous than Molina or any of the other chumps that Joshua was considering.

I personally think he'd beat Wilder.

Yeah possibly. I just think his size (he's a small heavyweight) and his lack of power are always going to make it hard for him at the top level.

Jennings turned the Joshua fight down. He wasn't even open to discussion on the matter.

So after reading the various posts there appear to be maybe 10 or twelve, Considering that there will soon be 4 champions and only eight challengers for those title and assuming that each champion will fight twice in one year means that after a year there will be no one acceptable to fight.. . . Do we just eliminate the heavyweight division then because a lack of quality contenders?. . . .or do we agree that journeymen and second tier challengers are necessary?

fury and wlad are 1 and 2

therefore povetkin is still number 3 until someone beats him or somehow fights and destroys a string of decent enough fighters.

most of the supposed worthy contenders have had 1 decent win, if that

I included him because he shouldn't have lost against Martin since it wasn't a punch that ended him. He just collapsed with a leg injury and prior to that had a handful of decent wins over Cunningham and Adamek. He's not very good but I'd accept him as a worthy challenger.

Top-10: Joshua... Ortiz... Fury... Wilder... Klitschko... Povetkin... Haye... Ruiz... Parker... Takam

I like Byant Jennings, but the Ortiz fight really busted his can... Other guys who don't deserve to be in the Top-10 are Glazkov, Martin, Pulev, Chisora, and Hammer. There are many better than those guys so how can anybody rank them?

I have Tyson Fury and Wilder on the injury list.

Povetkin, Pulev, Ortiz, are the basic top contenders.

Joshua and Parker are the top prospects, belt or no belt.

Teslenko, Schwarz, Miller, Lippe Granat, H. Fury, Spong and Gorman are other prospects.

Browne is fun to watch but limited.

I wonder who dares to show up against Tyrone Spong next week.
