No worse than Ward vs. Brand.jujigatame wrote:#1 CW in the world versus an anonymous bum-crusher. Garbage.
Why would HBO bother with this? Will it be on the the undercard of that Hopkins fight?
Talk about damning with faint praise.Freedom2013 wrote:No worse than Ward vs. Brand.jujigatame wrote:#1 CW in the world versus an anonymous bum-crusher. Garbage.

Jesus Christ; can you not comment on the shittiness of a matchup without saying something along the lines of "Its no worse than such and such".Freedom2013 wrote:No worse than Ward vs. Brand.jujigatame wrote:#1 CW in the world versus an anonymous bum-crusher. Garbage.

Just pointing out the double standard of people with an American fetish who are quick to disparage Usyk but have nothing but praise for Ward.lefty wrote:Jesus Christ; can you not comment on the shittiness of a matchup without saying something along the lines of "Its no worse than such and such".
We all know you have an eastern European fetish but your argument is akin to "what's worse; dogshit or cat poo?" Who cares?! They're both poo! Just because Ward-Brand was crap; that doesn't justify Usyk vs some absolute can either.
It's worse. At the very least Brand had an extremely close fight with Badou Jack and in my opinion Brand won it. Nothing on Beljos record comes even remotely close to that.Freedom2013 wrote:No worse than Ward vs. Brand.jujigatame wrote:#1 CW in the world versus an anonymous bum-crusher. Garbage.

Brand is also much smaller than Ward. And who did Sullivan Barrera ever beat?hbg wrote:It's worse. At the very least Brand had an extremely close fight with Badou Jack and in my opinion Brand won it. Nothing on Beljos record comes even remotely close to that.
And no, I'm not American. ;)
To be fair, Ward doesn't have good options as an A side, as he can't generate money, so they can't pay good opponents.Freedom2013 wrote:Brand is also much smaller than Ward. Hunter and Masternak didn't want the fight with Usyk, while Ward had many options.
But okay. Ward is above criticism because he's an American.
How dare you say that. The number one outside of Usyk is the mighty Lebedevcrusader wrote:In the grand scheme of things I'm not too bothered with this, as Usyk just fought arguably the #1 guy in the division away from home (Ward wasn't coming off that type of win when he faced Brand), but taken on its own it's definitely a poo opponent for such a good fighter.
Except you were responding to me, and I never remotely praised any of Ward's recent opponents, not even Barrera who some people thought was a good opponent for some reason.Freedom2013 wrote:Just pointing out the double standard of people with an American fetish who are quick to disparage Usyk but have nothing but praise for Ward.lefty wrote:Jesus Christ; can you not comment on the shittiness of a matchup without saying something along the lines of "Its no worse than such and such".

The problem is that the rankings are garbage.klitoris wrote:Beljo is not a bad choice for a showcase fight if you look at the current top 15 WBO Rankings.
#1 Gevor fought like 3 weeks ago, so probably not available.
#2 Briedis is going the WBC route.
#3 Arslan is 46 years old and probably would of wanted a lot of money.
#4 Beljo
So he's probably fighting the highest ranked available fighter.
Keep in mind Usyk is fighting only his 11th fight. This isn't Danny Garcia fighting a "Salka" or a "Vargas" after 30 fights loljujigatame wrote:The problem is that the rankings are garbage.klitoris wrote:Beljo is not a bad choice for a showcase fight if you look at the current top 15 WBO Rankings.

Exactly. He should look at his former teammate Loma.jujigatame wrote:He's not just any 10-fight pro. He's a gold medalist with something like 400 amateur fights. And he turns 30 in a couple months.
Its fine Ward will either prove to people that he is still the truth or you guys will be right with being critical of him.jujigatame wrote:Except you were responding to me, and I never remotely praised any of Ward's recent opponents, not even Barrera who some people thought was a good opponent for some reason.Freedom2013 wrote:Just pointing out the double standard of people with an American fetish who are quick to disparage Usyk but have nothing but praise for Ward.lefty wrote:Jesus Christ; can you not comment on the shittiness of a matchup without saying something along the lines of "Its no worse than such and such".

I think Ward is an excellent fighter, he's just fought dogshit opposition for years now so it's difficult to ascertain exactly how excellent he is.world ranked wrote: Its fine Ward will either prove to people that he is still the truth or you guys will be right with being critical of him.
The great thing about this fight it will clearly show where Ward and Kovalev are.jujigatame wrote:I think Ward is an excellent fighter, he's just fought dogshit opposition for years now so it's difficult to ascertain exactly how excellent he is.world ranked wrote: Its fine Ward will either prove to people that he is still the truth or you guys will be right with being critical of him.
