WHAT'S WITH ALL THE THREAD LOCKING?

If you're going to lock a thread, please be so kind as to give the specific reasons why.
Example 1: yesterday evening, I start an off-topic (and clearly labeled as such)
thread involving the Prince of Wales and his public promotion of an alternative cancer "therapy" consisting of coffee enemas and mass consumption of vegetable juices. The tone is somewhat mocking, but IMO the post is neither outrageously insulting nor slanderous. Why lock it?
Example 2: There's been a
little Yanks-vs.-Brits-thread going on. Some taunts & mild insults have been exchanged along with no small amount of friendly ribbing, but nothing too serious. Why lock it?

Please lock this thread as the use of the word "enemas" offends me.

Yes, Eric. I was going to reply to your 'Chuck bitch-slapped' thread. I thought the put down by the medical man was one of the best I heard in ages.
No idea why they locked it up.

I've no idea why it was locked either. Maybe Charle's butler reads the boxrec threads on his behalf?

Why do you call him "Chuck"?

Not guilty, Eric. Seems a bit strange to lock a thread unless the thread is going to lead to a prolonged slanging match.

Because 'Chuck' is a diminutive of Charles, used mainly in America, rather than Britain.

Never seen any of the "Child's Play" cheeseball horror movies? Send me the address of the rock you live under and we'll see if we can't arrange to have a DVD of one sent to you.
Plus, there's no small number of famous (non-homicidal doll) Hollywood actors who've gone by "Chuck." Sounds like you really need to get out more to watch bad cinema. ;)

There's a Pacific-Island tribe that uses a particular kind of fern growing only on one part of their island as a natural laxative. They have a saying:
With fronds like these, who needs enemas?

Haven't heard from JohnShep yet - hmmm, you'd think his weekly polo & crumpets session with Prince Chuck would've ended hours ago...perhaps the Fresh Prince had an accident while poloing (not related to his birth, mind you. ;))
To paraphrase once-banned-then-unbanned user jaafar: UnShep the Gestapoed threads plz, JohnLock! Freedom of speech, no taxation without fornication, et cetera (insert random political catchphrase here).

I think that the real reason that your threads keep getting locked is that you have enemas in high places.
