Domestic clashes always mean more to me because I have a more acute sense of the rivalry envovled. This is a Domestic Gem, and I'd take this fight over Byrd & Ruiz's next bouts anyday.

Well done to those involved in making this happen.

Anyone else this that BBC's lack of boxing interest mean more domestic clashes now? At least there won't be worries about the TV rights.

Dont count your chickens, Hatton v Harris was announced and now not happening likewise Calzaghe v Johnson I will believe it when I see it. Particularly as Harrison seems to be difficult to negotiate with.

But once you get to the Press Conference, (2 days time), only 'injuries' get the the way.

Was just thinking that when I looked at the WBO rankings. There's some mexican I have never heard of on there at #5, Librado Andrade - could well be him.

Lacy (IBF title fight coming up)
Kessler (WBC title fight coming up)
Markussen (newly crowned EBU champ, got an injury in that fight)
Andrade (DLH fighter, will probably build him up more)
Salem (Just lost to Veit)
Vanderpool (Ibf title fight coming up)
Larsen (WBA title fight coming up)
Mkrtchyan (no)
Echols (wants to move down to middleweight again)
Pemberton (Could be)
Haussler (Just lost in EBU fight)
Sheika (Agian?)
Mundine (I doubt it)
Krajnc (Just lost to Ottke, but is a free agent)

All in all I would say it will be Pemberton with Markussen, Andrade and Krajnc as outsiders

This is a 50-50 fight for me, its like the boxer against the brawler, i cannot pick a winner, on the night though i'll be cheering on Skelton (just seemed to warm to him) - he seems a decent, honest, down to earth bloke

I just can't be bothered with Calzaghe these days.
Its the Skelton Harrison fight that I'm interested in. Fighters who are prepared to fight, and who are both taking a career risk as the loser could be 'over the hill' over-night.

I suspect someone like Armand Kranjc will be involved and Calzaghe will try to stop him "Like Ottke couldn't...." blah blah. I doubt it will be Omar Sheika though as i heard someone mention earlier this week as he is due to fight James Butler, not sure whether they will use gloves yet though

Butler should be banned and Sheika should be retired so that will be fun stuff

Looking forward to this one, should be a cracker, funnily enough, I find myself warming to Skelton these days. He's not going to be a world beater (more than likely neither is Audley now), but so what, he's an honest professional, and he does seem very down to earth. Having now read quite a few interviews with him, it's hard not to like the guy.

The only reason I hope Harrison wins is that he is younger and therefore there is a little more potential for development there, plus he has a solid amateur background. With Skelton, there is so little time for imrprovement, and less fundamentals to work on. He's game as you like though, and seems much more fearless than Harrison.

Maybe the fact that Calzaghe presumably won't be involved in the main event will give him the kick up the backside he needs to go and get some decent fights.

i have givin up on Calzaghe. waste of talent, should of gone to america years ago. or at least give up the WBO belt. never did him any favours and fight ottke.

allegedly has blasted Antonio Tarver after he turned down an offer to fight Joe Calzaghe later this year.

"Antonio is not a huge name like Roy Jones Jnr,” Warren, who was told by the WBC light-heavyweight king he needed a $5million purse, informed icwales.

"I spoke to Tarver last week and he told me how much he wanted and I refused. He wants $5million and I think it's completely ridiculous. It's out of the question.

"The American pay-per-view TV network Showtime offered $1million for the broadcast rights for the fight so if somebody can tell me how I can make up the $4million difference then I will put it on.

"Tarver is just shouting his mouth off, he's living in a fantasy world. Tarver is pricing himself out of the market, he'll never get paid that much.

"Reality will set in sooner or later. It always starts off like this but when Tarver's phone doesn't ring then hopefully his camp will see sense and we'll be able to get him for the right money. I certainly won't be paying stupid money."
