Cruiserweight world titleholder Oleksandr Usyk will make his first defense -- and his United States debut -- against Thabiso "The Rock" Mchunu on Dec. 17 at The Forum in Inglewood, California, K2 Promotions announced on Wednesday.

Don't know much about 'The Rock'.. His rankings etc..

It's a first defence.. Easily retainable..

Usyk should win fairly comfortably. Mchunu is a pretty slick boxer but he looks about 5'7; I imagine he'll be giving up a good bit of reach against Usyk.

Apparently he was ahead on points against Makabu until he got KO'd in the 11th.

Given that Makabu KO'd Mchunu, and Bellew KO'd Makabu, I think Usyk is probably quite clearly superior to Mchunu. But I wouldn't fault Usyk too strongly for taking a fight like this. Hopefully he sets his sights higher in the near future, though.

Mchunu has good wins against Duroduno and Fast Eddie Chambers but he got KO'd in his next to last fight and I have confidence in Usyk. Usyk by KO.

Mchunu is VERY slick... and he's very fast and tough... He boxed the ass clean off Eddie Chambers like he was nothing... This will be good, I promise.

Wasn't a different opponent announced last week? This is much better

That guy I've never heard of turned it down because he didn't have enough time to prepare. I think this is the guy that beat Chambers.

I like this fight, especially in this day and age of the "safe 1st defence"

Comfortably beat Durodola and Chambers, and was playing with Makabu for the first four rounds and still led when he was stopped; Mchunu is solid opponent for a first defense, although it could be a boring style matchup.

Incudentally, this will be Usyk's 4th South African opponent in 11 bouts.

He also badly hurt him in one of the early rounds, but for some reason didnt follow up much (Bellew was smart to keep up the attack when he rocked Makabu).

Mchunu is a midget, Usyk should have no trouble with him.

Mchunu is not a midget, he's a career cruiserweight.

Dude, my sister is bigger than him.

And Andre Ward is 1,2inch bigger than your cruiserweight.

Mchunu is a solid fighter. It's a good fight, can't look past a Usyk win though.
