Golovkin vs. Jacobs Still in Serious Negotiations, Says Loeffler

"We're still making progress, still speaking with A l(Haymon) and still trying to work out a deal that's fair for both fighters. I think it's a great fight, it's the number one middleweight versus the number two middleweight. So our goal is to work out a deal and not go to a purse bid. So hopefully we'll have something done in the near future,''
"I know the WBA feels the same way. If two promoters can make a deal with the fighters that's a better situation than entering into a purse bid. That's why we're continuing negotiations with Jacobs. If I didn't think Jacobs wanted the fight or if I didn't think it was possible to work out a deal than we would have been in a purse bid already but I'm trying to do anything I can to try to make the deal happen." from scene
I hope this fight will happen cos Jacobs would be the best opponent to date for GGG.
GGG vs Jacobs and Canelo vs BJS, then the winners meet in September.

It seems as though the WBA's stipulated deadlines are pretty meaningless in regards to Jacobs and Golovkin.

Yup, but I hope they will eventually make the fight happen.

Jacobs doesn't want the fight, and Loefler gets fooled yet again. He should've pressed for a purse bid.

In my mind, the purse bid process is likely to result in one of two scenarios:
• Jacobs refuses to face Golovkin due to the 25% purse split payday being insufficient, resulting in him dropping the WBA “regular” belt
• The purse bid goes ahead, with K2/HBO being outbid by Haymon, resulting in GGG dropping his WBA “Super” belt, because of contractual obligations

K2 needs to work with HBO to have the second scenario figured out. If K2 bids at least $6 mil and Haymon outbids them, then Golovkin will get at least $4.5 mil of Haymon money. He should then be able to "share" $1.5-$2 mil with HBO compensating their revenue loss. If Loefler can't get some kind of agreement like that with HBO pressing the mandatory situation, then he is totally worthless and Golovkin needs to drop him ASAP.

You could be right, but the “HBO exclusive contract” obstacle is regularly cited by Kathy Duva as the reason why Kovalev can’t fight Stevenson, because Main Events couldn’t afford to lose the purse bid when the Russian was the mandatory challenger to Adonis' WBC belt, as Sergey is only allowed to have his bouts televised by HBO.
Pacquiao was once instated as the mandatory challenger to Mayweather’s WBC welterweight title, but Top Rank withdrew and decided to go the WBO route instead, and one of the reasons cited was due to Manny’s an exclusive contract with HBO… and they couldn’t afford to lose the purse bid to GBP/Haymon for the same reason as Kovalev.
What you’re proposing sounds feasible, but I suspect that HBO may be unwilling to compromise on contracts, based on their track record.

Duva clearly screwed Sergey up in the Stevenson purse bid situation. That situation was also different, because Sergey was in a mandatory role, not a champion role, so he didn't lose his belts when he withdrew. Pacquiao situation you mentioned is also totally different.
If knowing that getting all belts is so important to GGG, K2 and HBO can't agree on some kind of a cut/compensation for the contract breach in the mandatory situation, then Golovkin needs to run either from one or from both of them.

I don’t think the Kovalev and Pacquiao situations were really that much different to the Golovkin-Jacobs issue, because it was pointless for aforementioned fighters to participate in purse bids, because their exclusive contracts with HBO prevented them from having their bouts televised by HBO-rival networks.
That being said, I wholeheartedly agree with your general sentiments about GGG, K2 and HBO coming to some sort of compromise to allow Golovkin to retain ownership of his WBA tile in order to fulfil his long-term goal of unifying all the belts.

If K2 and HBO would come to an agree to allow GGG to fight on other TV network for this fight then it would be great but I doubt HBO would do it. Anyway I hope they would figure out a good deal for everybody and make the fight.

In America, after the rich people fucked up the economy,
many people were offered back their same jobs,
minus 25% (or more) of their salary.
Take it, or enter a horrible market.
It's crazy how everyone accepts that loss,
but these guys, who aren't close to losing money,
have to be able to maximize every dime.

I won't even get into the "commie" thing ...
Maybe you, or no one you know, had this happen to them.
I know at least 5.
Sorry ... let me start
making sense again.
This fight should be 65-35. Now if the purse is $6M, then Haymon ...
You guys are idiots.
