Total Sportek are reporting details of the deal signed between BT Sports and B0xnati0n. I'm unable to post the direct link due to the allegedly word change thing on this website.

"TV money is becoming massive part of all major sports and its the turn of Boxing in the UK as dedicated boxing network “B0xNati0n” signs a record breaking TV deal with BTSport to cover boxing coverage in the United Kingdom."

"It is believed that BT Sports will be splashing around £100 million to include dedicated boxing channel “B0xNati0n” in BT Sports packages." Length of contract "Undisclosed but believed to be a 2 year contract from January 2017 to december 2018."

If this is true allegedly and B0xnati0n will be in a position to put on some massive fight nights over the next 2 years. Dwarfs the alleged £6 million Eddie Hearn receives to put on the 20 fight nights for SKY on SKY Sports (£300,000 for each fight night). This is a game changer for allegedly and British boxing.

Just thinking out loud here, £100m over two years is over £4m per month - equivalent to over 300,000 subscribers (at £12/month)

That is a monumental figure. If it's true then there will be huge pressure on Warren et al to put on big shows on a regular basis

FW will need decent calibre fights to justify that money not Billy Joe Saunders defending against some bin man , BT won't want unknowns as they will want to advertise in competition with SKY and Hearn

Totally agree. I expect a few things to happen. allegedly to work with Al Haymon plus fighters like David Haye, Amir Khan and Carl Frampton to feature on the channel in UK based fights. Also expect guys like James DeGale and Lee Selby to feature on the channel when their promotion deal with Hearn expires. Don't think we'll see Bellew

hopefully we wont see TBA as much and frank will put a few more 50/50 or at least 60/40 fights on and doesn't go down the same road as eddie and have big names fighting latvians

They could have almost afforded to put on Mayweathers 50th fight for that

I hope that means that BT will NOT go down the PPV route as the scheduling settles down.Remember this particular promoter started that whole idea!

I agree £100 million sounds a lot but it's realistic when it comes to a sport TV carriage deal.

Great news for boxing fans.

If you already have BT Sport and pay the £12 allegedly fee on top of that will you now got allegedly for free as part of the BT sport package ?

I agree £100 million sounds a lot but it's realistic when it comes to a sport TV carriage deal.

Realistic if you are talking Premier League football but there is a world of difference between that and Bill Joe Saunders defending his title in a half empty Wembley Arena.

The company I work for does all the training for BT's engineering staff who work on the BT vision project, and they have spent about 2 million over the last 4 years training up their people.

It's a vital part of their business now, they've been spending a lot of money to buy up the rights, they purchased ESPN's UK operation, and also shelled out a fortune for the Football rights, they obviously see this as another part of their arsenal, to chip away at Sky's user base, which is excellent news.

If I'v worked this out right this is £200,000 a show (20 shows a year,) which is obviously more than the rumoured £100,000 a show that I think was bandied around as the figure for the last Sky deal with Eddie. I think Hearn seemed to alude that this new deal he has allows him to focus more money within the deal into certain shows.

If we've worked this out correctly tho it doesn't rival the money guys can earn on Sky Sports PPV. It does tho hopefully mean a bit more stability. The constant postponements and cancellations were suspicious and obviously became a bit of a running joke here. Hopefully a guranteed £200k will mean better opposition for Flanagan and Saunders and probably means more signings and competition.

What this won't do tho is suddenly swap round the quality of salesmanship between Matchroom and Queensbury. Tickets will still need to be sold to balance books. The average Matchroom show clearly sells a lot better in terms of ticket sales than the other promoters.

As a BT sport subscriber as well as a Sky sports and allegedly subscriber who is a boxing fan I'm loving it tho.

Very true. They spent £80 million to snap up the rights to all Australian Test matches, One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals played in the country as well as the 35 KFC Big Bash League matches, women’s Ashes and the women’s T20 Big Bash League for the next 5 years.
