Who is the most protected boxer right now?

The floor is yours.
Alvarez is really not that protected, at least not in a matchmaking sense. He's fought Cotto, Kirkland, Lara, Angulo, Mayweather, and Trout. That is not exactly protection. They may have kept him safe and sound in 2016, but prior to that, it was trial by fire virtually every fight for quite a while. I can think of a lot of fighters who have never even fought 1 opponent as good as Mayweather or Lara.In the know 85 wrote:Aj! Canelo! Take your pick!
True, also he wanted the Lara fight against Richard Schaefers wishesLackeos wrote:Alvarez is really not that protected, at least not in a matchmaking sense. Aye, basically everyone for the last 15 years who hasn't faced Floyd, to be fairLackeos wrote: I can think of a lot of fighters who have never even fought 1 opponent as good as Mayweather or Lara.

Wilder's wins over Stiverne and Duhaupas are better than anyone on Joshua's resume.
I think I'd agree if I didn't feel as though they were trying to make the Klitchko fight. By definition, protection is trying to keep him away from those kind of guys. Not sure Hearn is THAT protective of his fighters. I mean look at Brook v GGG.tigermoth87 wrote:AJ

I was just using Wilder to justify me mentioning Joshua ahead of him. Both are overprotected and cherry pickers but of the two, at least Wilder does have a handful of decent wins in Stiverne and Duhaupas. Worrying though that with his fight record, those are his two best victories.davie wrote:tigermoth87 wrote:AJ

You make a valid point, AJ's level of opposition has been appauling.
But for christ sake man, don't use Deontays record as a means of comparison, it's hardly a shining example of taking on the very best of the best
Joshua had 17 fights and just wanted to fight Pulev and Klitschko who pulled out. Wilder had 37 fights and still cherry picks no hopers. And Duhaupas is an unskilled trash no better then last three of Joshuas opponents. Comparing these two in terms of protection is ridiculous.tigermoth87 wrote:AJ

Duhaupas would beat Brezeale, Martin and Whyte.Tarkus wrote:Joshua had 17 fights and just wanted to fight Pulev and Klitschko who pulled out. Wilder had 37 fights and still cherry picks no hopers. yeah sure, he really wants all the toughest fights but just has to fight Molina and Breazeale.Tarkus wrote:Joshua had 17 fights and just wanted to fight Pulev and Klitschko who pulled out. So in your opinion, why is Joshua not fighting Klitchko on December 10?BitPlayer wrote:yeah sure, he really wants all the toughest fights but just has to fight Molina and Breazeale.Tarkus wrote:Joshua had 17 fights and just wanted to fight Pulev and Klitschko who pulled out. So Molina is the best they can get? Wilder got a hard time for fighting Chris Arreola, now Joshua is fighting someone Arreola beat in a round. Chisora would've been better, Hughie Fury would've been better, Haye would've been better, Duhaupas would've been better, Takam would've been better. Pulev would actualy have been a credible defense.Rob3_142 wrote:So in your opinion, why is Joshua not fighting Klitchko on December 10?BitPlayer wrote:yeah sure, he really wants all the toughest fights but just has to fight Molina and Breazeale.Tarkus wrote: Joshua had 17 fights and just wanted to fight Pulev and Klitschko who pulled out. There is truth here but I refuse to believe that none of the others in the IBF top 15 that haven't been mentioned didn't want to fight. Why would they hide from what is known as the biggest payday in boxing? Eddie obviously isn't offering as much money as he should.Rob3_142 wrote:Wow, you are hard to please.BitPlayer wrote:So Molina is the best they can get? Right, seeming that you completely ignored my question anyway;
Chisora has been offered the fight several times, rejected. Hughie Fury was offered several times, rejected. Duhaupas and Takam are already set to fight each other in a WBC mandatory. Pulev was offered the fight several times, rejected.
I mean what is wrong with you? You must surely already know these guys are unavailable? What is Joshua supposed to do? Do you see anyone in the IBF top 15 calling Joshua out? No I didn't think so.
He may well not offer millions, but you know he's offering a competitive payday. The problem is there is too much risk to reward. Hearn offered both Pulev and Chisora more money than they earned to fight each other, but they probably knew there chances of winning that fight were much slimmer. Take a heavy defeat and it's two steps backward.Killer Blow wrote:There is truth here but I refuse to believe that none of the others in the IBF top 15 that haven't been mentioned didn't want to fight. The difference is that AJ beats most of his opponends so clearly that it's obvious he can handle the top, while Wilder get in trouble every time he fights someone in the top 50, despite cherrypicking.tigermoth87 wrote:AJ

AJ hasn't been Boxing nearly as long as is already at least AS accomplished as Wilder. Wilder has had a longer Pro career by 4 years and 20 fights, and is still in the same boat as AJ. Really having proved nothing.tigermoth87 wrote:AJ

H.Fury and Chisora rejected it because they were offered peanuts, and I'm pretty sure they'd rather have a title shot than an eliminator.Rob3_142 wrote:Wow, you are hard to please.BitPlayer wrote:So Molina is the best they can get?
