Hypothetical matchup; Mayweather vs Mcgregor

Is there anyone else that would be interested in seeing the matchup? I'd quite like to see it. Not because I think Conor can hang with Floyd but rather the build up, etc, would be intriguing to watch.
I'd rather see it than Mayweather- Pacquaio 2 anyway!

I'd like to see it as an MMA match because it would be nice to see Floyd outgrappled and then hammered. As a boxing match Floyd would be too far ahead in the game and it probably be like the Gatti fight.

easy to predict. In boxing match Mcgregor is going to land about 5% of total punches and getting tattoed all night long before referee stop the fight. In MMA fight Mcgregor take down Floyd and beat him there in a few seconds.
What is more important: Both are going to make extreme bunch of money for this fight and people who is going to pay for it are stupid

Yeah, doesn't really do much for me. Wouldn't mind watching Floyd knockout McGregor though, would certainly serve up a nice slice of humble pie to those jumped-up UFC fans.

I can understand some won't like the shit talking element. That said- id still rather see it than a repeat of Mayweather-Pacquaio.

Stick McGregor in a boxing match with someone like Ortiz, Algieri, Rios and see how he gets on. If he gets an impressive win then fire him in with Floyd and the two of em can make a packet. It's not something I want to see right away. I'd rather see how McGregor is as a boxer first off. If he turns out to be decent and gets a decent win then whatever, go for it. Even if that happens it's not a fight I'd be able to get excited about tbh.
I also have no interest in Mayweather v Pacquiao 2! Once bitten........

I would love to see it
Mcgregor is now a mega star and boxing don't have anybody close to McGregor popularity now
Alvarez ppv numbers are a joke and ward fight will bomb in ppv even though it's a great fight

Not even competitive. Mayweather if it's boxing, McGregor if it's UFC.

This would be a hideously lucrative freakshow of a fight, which I would flatly-refuse to pay to watch, regardless as to whether the bout takes place inside a ring or an octagon cage.

We watch freakshow fights nearly every week as boxing fans; when some up and coming prospect is fighting some hopelessly out of his depth journeyman.

It has been nothing but a publicity stunt since it was first mentioned. A few people in on it even admitted that.
Can't believe anyone could possibly take it seriously.

Agreed, but I only said I wouldn't
pay to watch a McGregor-Mayweather bout, but that doesn't mean that I couldn't be tempted to watch the fight for
free.

Boxing Match = Floyd
MMA Match = Conor
It would be unfair for them to meet each other in any setting.

Hypothetically, the only way to make it interesting to me would be if they combined both. Something like if conor last two or 3 rounds they switch to mma.

I watched the entire ufc 205 card. For a card sold as the best combat sports card it was so dull. There was one good fight, a 175 middleweight bout. The skill deficit compared to our boxers (in terms of striking) is huge. McGreggor wants 100 mil to fight Mayweather, he doesn't deserve that, not interested in seeing the fight but agree it would be better than May/Pac 2.

On paper it was the best card ever. I enjoyed it.

That's good mate. I can't stand ufc at the moment. Don't want it to take over if it hasn't already.

It's a way better product from a fans perspective. By miles.

Yea I can't disagree. Fans actually get to see their favourite fighters fight top opponents and regularly. They get to see a steady stream of big events. We get a big fight once a year. I hope your hyped for Ward Kovalev.

Obviously Mayweather would be 100% to win a boxing match and McGregor would be 100% to win an MMA match. It would be interesting if they fought in a hybrid rules match that allowed punching, elbows, and take downs; but disallowed kicks, knees, and ground fighting (on a take down, they would get immediately stood up, like in sanshou rules). I think even under these rules, McGregor would be a pretty clear favorite, but it would be more fair than any other set of rules. Anyways, this hypothetical match-up is truly a stupid idea. There would never be an arrangement that could offer a competitive match-up. That's why you never see a top boxer fighting a top MMA fighter. People need to try to brainstorm match-ups that would at least be competitive, like where one guy has the rules on his side, but the other guy significantly has size on his side. Pacquiao vs Anderson Silva or Lucas Matthysse vs Georges St. Piere in a boxing match. Gennady Golovkin vs Connor McGregor or Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyron Woodley in an MMA match.

I'm going to watch it. Can't say I expect it to be great.
