There's a few interesting fights springing up around the world in the coming months and i was interested to see what your thoughts were on some of them, first of all two Heavyweight "prospects" go head to head in Florida tomorrow night as big punching Nigerian Samuel Peter takes on Bosnian Jovo Pudar. I saw Peter last time out against Charles Shufford and he lacked a fighting instinct throwing to many wide shots and huffing and puffing a lot but still got the win and at 23 has time on his side, his opponent Pudar is 33 and has no real wins on his record to speak of.

On the undercard Lance Whitaker faces Otis Tisdale in an inteteresting support bout, Whitaker has somewhat redeemed himself following a poor showing against Jameel McCline with wins over Russell Chasteen, Al Cole and recently a reasonable stoppage over Friday Ahunanya. Tisdale holds the highly regarded WBE title 8)

On the undercard of Freitas-Corrales is a good fight between Yodsanan Nanthachai and Steve Forbes for the WBA Super Featherweight title. Nanthachai only beaten twice has a good KO record but has not mixed at Forbes level before, this is his first venture to the US and his second outside Thailand so Forbes could perhaps be regarded as a slight favourite.

Who can pick some winners and why?

Trouble is Steve I don't know about everyone else but to my knowledge I've never seen Pudar, Teasdale or Nanthachai. I have had the misfortune of seeing Peter, Whitaker and Forbes though.

I've heard good things about the Thai champ, I reckon he could do a job here.

I saw Pudar beat a novice fighter called Dan Ward on Eurosport as whil back, he looked ok en route to a second round KO but then again Ward was dire. i expect a lot of hugging and holding in that one but Peter earning a decision in a lacklustre bout.

I think Whitaker will decision Tisdale as well.

As for Nanthachai or should i say "3k battery" as he is called against Forbes i am looking forward to this one. Thai fighters are usually tough and his two losses came early in his career when he was arguably still learning his trade and has since gone on a 35 fight unbeaten run with 34 wins and one draw mixed in. I have seen Forbes i think but cannot recall against whom! All i know is that a few years back he claiming he was the forgotten man of the Super Feather division and that Freitas-Casamayor-Mayweather etc were all avoiding him. He has never been stopped but Nanthachai holds a fearsome KO record.

Just for the record Samuel Peter huffed and puffed his way to a UD over a game but limited Jovo Pudar, on the undercard Lance Whitaker stopped Tisdale in 1 round via the 3 knockdown route. It's not enough to put him back in the serious picture but his rehabilitation period is still on track.

fornicating hell, Steve. That's too knowledgeable for us. Do you get access to fights from the States?

Nah but i have got a good vhs/dvd fight trader who keeps me informed You wouldn't believe the amount of unwatched tapes and discs i have lying in my cupboard, i'm a buy first think later person when it comes to Boxing :P
