Sad news, British born 1990s Heavyweight contender, Alex Stewart passed away this weekend. A very much underated boxer - outgunned by two of the finest heavyweights of all time - would have probably been a world champion in later eras.

And for me, he beat George Foreman, just before Foreman shocked Moorer.

Yep, good quality contender and good to watch. Not sure about him being a world champion in another era, as good as he was, I think he fulfilled his potential by becoming a top ten contender.

Sad news, I always liked the way he just got on with job in hand.

Just followed a link on CS to his fight with Ezra Sellers,what an amazing fight,RIP Alex.

Great shootouts with Moorer and Sellers, and he gave Foreman a tremendous battle over the distance. While known for being dismissed easily by Tyson, he really ripped into Holyfield with everything he had, when Holyfield was still building himself into a heavyweight- losing bravely inside the distance.

I think he would have beaten Axel Schultz who should have been a world champion, he might have outboxed (in his prime) the 1996 version of Bruno. It would have been an interesting fight between a prime Stewart and Valuev, plenty others he was as good as - John Ruiz, Shannon Briggs, Lyakovich, etc.

I'm not saying he would have been THE world champion but as good as some of the belt holders we have had since his time.

Unfortunately I remember him mostly for being terrified of Tyson and blasted out in one round- surprised at this news though- couldn't have been very old
