Yes, there are competitions at these weights. They come last though, so maybe Chris hasn't got the schedules for these yet.

Don't think they've made the draw yet? Wonder if it's seeded, because Khan wants that Cuban in the other half if possible.

I'm pretty sure there are no seeds, so Khan could meet Kindelan very early. Fingers crossed they avoid each other until the final.

BBC will more than likely have interactive coverage (for digital viewers). Which means it will be on all of the time if you press the red button.

I'll be looking out for Andy Lee from Ireland as well my Grandpa was Irish
and so I always have a soft spot for sportmen from there. I think he boxes as a middleweight. I'll probably tape as many fights as possible because you never know they may be a new Roy Jones or Floyd Mayweather at the Olympics.

The draw isnt until the day before the olympics start.

I hope Khan wins but it's a massive ask. Where did this myth come, fuelled by Steve Bunce last time he was on telly (with Khan) that he only lost by 'a couple of points' to the Cuban?

Kindelan beat him 33-13, if I remember rightly. A huge learning fight though, and it can only be closer next time.

Out of interest this is the first Olympics to feature the new weight divisions. The middleweights are particularly strong.
You have the likes of the outstanding Kazakh, Gennadi Golovkin, who's the current world champion. Cuba have a strong middlewight in Yordanis Despaigne who holds a win over Golovkin this season. America's entry Andre Dirrel is a real medal hope, I believe he's beaten the both the aforementioned this year!
From Russia you've got the superb Gaiderbek Gaiderbekov who's the european champion and Ukrainian Oleg Mishkin is as formidable as anyone. He's the world silver medallist.
Hungary's Károly Balzsay could be a dark horse. He already has a contract with Universum after Athens.
Throw in Ireland's talented Andy Lee plus the German, Lucas Wilashek, who's beaten him and you have a excellent crop of boxers.
I'm sure i've missed some out as it's a real deep division!

Favorite at super heavy is 24 year old American Jason Estrada. He missed Sydney because of injury, but beat Michel Lopez Nunez in 2003, to become the first non Cuban to win the Pan American Games.

I wouldnt say he is a favorite, with a lucky draw he might get a medal. Earlier this year he lost 31-16 Victor Bisbal from Puerto Rico

Can't believe I forgot Commonwealth games champion Jean Pascal (Canada) at middleweight, just another example of the divisions depth.
For me, the natural picks at Super-heavy have to be Russia's Alexander Povetkin world and european champion and strong and talented Italian Roberto Cammarelle.

I agree, but it all depends of the draw since there is only 16 in the superheavyweight division.

Yes, I think it was Bunce being polite. The important thing though was Bunce's statement about how Amir went back to the dressing room afterwards and was (apparently) really annoyed with himself and has promised to look at that fight with Kindelin and ensure that scoreline doesn't happen next time.

It's a refreshing attitude from many of our athletes who seem to adopt the whole "well...I tried my best, and finished 19th. It was a class field, so I'm happy with that".

It seems Khan wants to be the best, not good... but THE BEST, and I like that.
