and was unified champ by age 21 ! Really is an incredible accomplishment when you think about it

Im 48 and was in awe of Tyson at his peak. He was a fantastic fighter. Tyson and Nigel Benn we had 2 great boxers there

I never got interested in Ali as i was a bit young to appreciate him in the 60s and70s but imo you cant buy excitement that Tyson gave.

We all have opinions but for me Tyson is number 1.

I was only a young kid when he was in his prime, but I was old enough to watch the comeback after prison. Seen all the fights, got a signed glove. He was phenomenal. I wishe I had been old enough to see him when he was smashing all before him and was the face of all sport. Must have been a buzz.

How the sport, and every sport in general, could do with someone like him right now. So many fakers with no substance and materialistic lifestyles. Closest there is now to a no frills, I am who I am type of person, who transcends his sport and does the business is Bolt.

Tyson wasn't materialistic? Lol. The guy owned a god damn tiger.

Im 39 and joined boxing at the tender age of 9 after watchin rocky,i used to think rocky was a real fighter till i seen first blood and thought it was rocky 4 then realised it wasnt when he was jumpin out of tree hahaha,anyways i joined boxing in 1986 and from about 1988 tyson was my idol i remeber he was meant to fight bruno on my birthday that year october 8th 1988 but he crashed his car and broke his hand i think. Anyway he was my fav boxer up until he done what he done to holyfield in 1997,what a fighter he was but he has never beaten a prime all time great heavyweight so for me he will never make my all time top 10-15 heavyweight,this might upset a few ppl but its just my opinion. He was great and exciting for the poor era of heavyweights but defo not an all time great

lennox lewis never beat a prime all time great heavyweight but he's in most peoples top 5

He beat holyfield and vitali,hokyfield is defo an all time great heavy and vitali probably will join the all time great heavyweights in time but tyson didnt beat anybody of note,probably his best was light heavyweight spinx

was holyfield at his peak i don't think so and vitali was winning and got stop on cuts

Holyfield came off two great victories over mike tyson and a victory over moorer so obviously not a young pup but still heavyweight champ and regarding vitali,what caused the cuts on vitali and who got the victory??? Michael nunn was beating james toney but toney stopped him,jermain taylor was beating froch but froch stopped him,shall we all say that tony got beat by nunm and froch by taylor? No we dont because they got stopped as did vitali,am i right?

Tyson v Lewis was just aweful. Tyson was past his best after Spinks due to his managment and his lifestyle. Lewis took Tyson to pieces and it almost looked like after round 2 Tyson didnt care, was just there for the pay cheque.

but those were KO's lewis didn't KO vitali he did cut him but that not the same as KOing him i haven't seen the fight in a long time but what i remember was lewis was behind and threw everything at vitali but never managed to floor him and was looking like he was blowing and would struggle to keep up that pace if the fight had carried on.

Ok then its like henry cooper should of beaten ali but for the cuts. Lewis vs vitali was like watching two guys fight in a pub the two of them couldnt string a good combination together,it was awful but lewis didnt throw everything at him cause he didnt have the energy to do so. Wether u k.o someone or stop them on cuts they still get a 28 day ban,a stoppage is a stoppage right? Chaves taylor 1? Still a stoppage. And lewis was preparing for someone else not vitali,im sure vitali came in within 13 days of the fight

If Cus hadnt died when he did and lived for another 10 years or more Tyson would have ruined the record books. Of course this is a woulda, shoulda,coulda.

Haha ok but for the record tyson excited the world for at least 20 years and he made me a fan of his. Mike tyson brought the heavyweights back to life after ali retired so he gets a massive from me

I used to get nervous just watching him pace up and down the changing room.
