Are there any updates on a Deontay vs Hughie fight?

Rather than beating down and criticizing Wilder or the match please give any progress report.
He'll be allowed a voluntary first.SteveO wrote:No.
When Wilder is fit again he is supposed to fight the winner of the forthcoming Povetkin-Stiverne interim title bout.
Maybe he could face Hughie after that.
Seriously?. . . . Stiverne, Molina, Duhaupa, Szpilka. . . .all top 10. . . and Arreola was a former world title challenger who stepped up to take a fight . . . .Dood, are you even a knowledgable boxing fan?gilgamesh wrote:Wilder is a joke. He's gonna avoid Top 10 opponents through his entire reign I guess. I can't wait to see Bum Squad knocked out.
None of those guys were Top 10. I'm a more knowledgeable boxing fan than you if you believe they were. Molina and Duhaupas weren't even Top 15 when he fought them.actjac wrote:Seriously?. . . . Stiverne was the only one of those who I think should've been ranked top 10 at the time. Molina had been KO'd by Arreola in his only previous bout with a solid opponent (Arreola wasn't shot at that point) and hadn't beaten anyone better than Tony Grano; Duhaupas had recently lost to Teper and his best win was an MD over Manuel Charr; and in Szpilka's only previous bout with a good opponent he had been toyed with and stopped by Jennings.actjac wrote:Seriously?. . . . Stiverne is the only Top 10 opponent Wilder has fought. The WBC or whatever might've had these other guys in their Top 10, but that just shows what a joke the alphabet rankings can be, and that they're obviously bought and sold.crusader wrote:Stiverne was the only one of those who I think should've been ranked top 10 at the time. You have to be pretty generous to those guys to have considered them among the top 10 in the division based on ability or resume; they may have been top 10 in ABC rankings, but so was Mark de Mori.
I don't really think gil's post was 'Seriously?' worthy.....

2,4,6,8...Stiverne, Molina, Duhaupa, Szpilka? What rankings are you looking at?actjac wrote:gilgamesh wrote:None of those guys were Top 10. I'm a more knowledgeable boxing fan than you if you believe they were. Molina and Duhaupas weren't even Top 15 when he fought them.actjac wrote:

These are top 10 guys currently ranked 2, 4, 6, 8. . . . worthy and credible opponents.. . . .My gawd look up early title defenses for Larry Holmes, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis by comparison.
He's making 'em up is my only assumption. Stiverne was Top 10, Szpilka was Top 15. Duhaupas and Molina weren't even Top 20 at the time they fought Wilder. Duhaupas has since earned a higher ranking by beating Helenius.x2x wrote:2,4,6,8...Stiverne, Molina, Duhaupa, Szpilka? What rankings are you looking at?actjac wrote:gilgamesh wrote:

You must have like 35 fighters in your top 10.actjac wrote:Seriously?. . . . I think his opponents were as bad as we all thought, turned out Wilder is just worse than people think.Badhusker wrote:ABC rankings are a joke for the most part, as they move guys up and down to make it a legit fight so it gets sanctioned. One thing we have found out about a few of Wilder's opponents is that they aren't as bad as most previously thought.
Out of these rankings, only the fight news rankings makes remotely any sense. http://www.fightnews.com/rankings-2

Wilder would spark him.asdfjkl wrote:I expect Wilder to duck this fight, just like he did when Hughie was about 19 or 20 year old. Hughie is simply far too good competition for Wilder. Despite Hughie is still younger as Wilder was when he won bronze at the olympics.
Are you just plain dumb or what? You also think Jennings is rank 5 of the world? Or that Ortiz would lose against Daffy? I'm sorry mate, but considering Wilder his opponents to be top 10 guys is a joke. It's just the WBC that listens to Wilder his wishes who he wants to be high ranked.actjac wrote:My gawd. . . .I only wanted an update on the fight not debate with old ladies . . .gilgamesh wrote:He's making 'em up is my only assumption.
