Is GGG getting lured into inactivity and ring rust ?

Golovkin is the kind of fighter that likes to stay active by having 3 or 4 fights per year. Who knows what trouble this period of lay off can do to him and we don't know if Jacobs will sign that contract.

It's a pity that GGG doesn't have a 3rd fight scheduled this year.

Oh no! GGG is getting treated like every other fighter!

Loeffler and the WBA are responsible for GGG's inactivity.

..once you are a champ, it's unrealistic to expect anyone to fight 3-4 times a year on a consistent basis..

Fiction. Everyone wants to get handsomely paid to risk the loss.

..that seems to be the problem: they kinda expect GGG team to pay their insurance, mortgage and unemplyment package all combined...

I hope he does it in 2017.

Not really. He's still more active than most other fighters on his level.

Yup. 147 lbs Brook has bigger balls than Canelo, Jacobs, BJS and CEJ combined.

Doubt it... looks like Andy Lee is the next for GGG in March 2017. Who knows what kind of situation happens until then. Jacobs getting KTFO by Canelo, GGG gets injured, etc. I'd say more 2018 than 2017. Time is short.

These clowns are prolonging this bullshit to get GGG old and faded. Brook took GGG's offer in split second and he'll fight Spence too.

You know what's sad with this masquerade , is Jacobs and BJS are acting like are some PPV stars and GGG is some kind of contender, when in reality Saunders and Jacobs are on par with Lemieux and Murray(when they fought GGG).

Well, Jacobs is kind of entertaining, got a pretty high KO ratio himself, and might beat everyone not named GGG. But he's acting like a diva, and don't get me started on this Billy Bum... i wouldn't even watch his fights if i had free tickets.

I agree with both of these posts, as well as those claiming that most boxers are waiting for 3G to get old.

I hope we see Spence v Brook. It is not like Brook would be surprised by Spence after being in with 3G, but it would be a large step up for Spence.

Tough call.

Go up to 168 then! Is he really scared of anyone in that crappy division? At least those guys will fight his ass.

I agree. Given the last two fights, 3G needs to get off his ass and go north or suffer the consequences. It is unfortunate that GingerHead is getting away with blatantly avoiding 3G though.

Why feel sorry for a man that has spent the last four or five years boasting that he was easily capable of competing and defeating any fighter from 154lbs to 175lbs, coupled with the fact his trainer regularly boasts how GGG dominates world-rated cruiserweights with ease, yet he insists on remaining well within his 160lbs comfort zone, where the talent pool is shallow and big payday opportunities are minimal?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of Golovkin’s or not, but the nature of his claims should be confusing to most of us, because why bother to repeat the same assertions so regularly if you then flatly-refuse to prove the validity of those boasts inside the ring?

However, if you wholeheartedly endorse his decision-making, you cannot possibly feel sorry for him, because the consequences of his actions are abundantly obvious.

The only other option is for HBO & K2 to pay the fight purses demanded by GGG’s 160lbs peers.

Given what Ward and Loma and Crawford and Chocolatito have been accomplishing, as well as the fact that Brook has the nutsac to have challenged 3G from two weight classes south, it is time for 3G to stop treading water if he wants to be considered the best boxer on the planet. He has been living on potential greatness for too long.

3G needs to head north.

That's just Abel talking, not GGG. His own & only goal is to unify 160 & defend it until records are shattered.

It is fine if he wants to play king of a hill that few are willing to attempt to scale but that will not make him p4p in the current boxing scene. To do that he will need to head north to the mountains.

We know for certain that Loeffler and Golovkin has made the precisely the same claims, but admittedly, not as regularly or aggressively as Abel Sanchez.

Personally-speaking, I suspect that Oleg Hermann and Tom Loeffler decide which direction Golovkin’s career takes, with GGG solely focussed on training preparation and the fighting.

If Golovkin is content with “technically” breaking Hopkins’ middleweight title defence record, though some people will question this based on Golovkin only being the long-term WBA “regular” champion for most of his title reign, coupled with receiving his WBA & WBC belts outside the ring, then his fans shouldn’t feel sorry for him, because the implications of his decision are obvious…

He’ll continue facing second-tier opposition, his paydays will not be as good as they should be, he may be unable to build a legacy fitting of his talents and he will also remain open to receiving criticism for refusing to fulfil the “multiple weight” claims that Team GGG have persistently repeated for the last four or five years.

People know that Golovkin is the best middleweight on the planet and continuing to gain victories at 160lbs won’t enhance his legacy, but is he capable of proving that he can also dominate the 154lbs, 168lbs or 175lbs weight divisions? He says he can, but refuses to do it.

I'd be very surprised if Canelo, BJS or Jacobs will fight Golovkin in 2017.

GGG is being avoided like he is a disease. People over pricing themselves because they know how risky the bout is. Sad because the MW division historically has always been interesting.

I think in 2017 GGG will vacate and move up to 168. People at 68' will fancy their chances will bank on his power decreasing
