The next opponent for Lomachenko

Sadly, there is not any worthy opponents at 130 (and 135) for Loma, and he will have to move up at 140 in order to make a solid money.
So, instead of the matches ih his natural division, he would be forced to fight Pacquiao or Crawford. M. Garcia (at 135) would be a worthy opponent, but I doubt that match would take place soon. What do you think about ?

He just needs to stay busy against credible competition. There is absolutely nothing to criticize about Lomachenko.

Yes, but who is credible competition ?

Mikey about this time next year could be a big fight. Before that maybe Flanagan in London or similar early summer. Next unify for the business of it.

Francisco Vargas or Salido 2 works for me.
Vargas vs Salido 2 with the winner to face Lomachenko works for me too.

According to Dan Rafael's interview with Arum after the fight, he said Salido rematch, then to the UK vs. Flanagan, then Pacman late 2017.

Based on everything I've seen from Flanagan so far he wouldn't have the balls to fight a guy like Lomachenko he's the Wilder of the Lightweight division forever looking for someone outside of the Top 10 to defend against.

You're right, Crolla would be more up for this fight IMO

Lomachenko might be a favorite over Barthelemy at 135, but it wouldn't be a gimme fight, and it would be ridiculous to skip over the division due to lack of competition. Barthelemy is top 15 p4p and bigger than Lomachenko. You don't just cruise over opportunities like that.

remembering how Gamboa lost against Crawford, not because Crawford was better boxer, but he was a lot bigger guy. Moving to 135 lbs right now would not be a wise right now, especially against Barthelemy. There are at least 2 solid fights at 130 or even at 126. Then move up

There aren't any mouthwatering fights at 130, but Sosa, Vargas, Salido, and Corrales are good enough that I wouldn't mind him facing any of them. Same goes for the Pedraza-Davis winner, although I think they're with Haymon.

I'd love to see him do a number on Salido next. Avenge that loss.

Salido and the Linares/Crolla 2 winner are the only fights I care about below 140 for Lomachenko. I'd rather he be moved up now and fight a gatekeeper at junior welter/welter like Cano. Fights like Jhonny Gonzalez are a waste of his talent.

It's probably going to be one of these fellas:
• Guillermo Rigondeaux (HBO is unlikley endorse him as an acceptable opponent)
• Jose Pedraza (IBF champion)
• Jezreel Corrales (if he avenges his sole loss against Uchiyama next month)
• Orlando Salido (an opportunity to avenge his own sole defeat)
• Francisco Vargas (WBC champion)
• The winner of the Zlaticanin-Garcia bout (opportunity to become a three-weight world champion)
• Manny Pacquiao at a 135lb catchweight (Bob Arum is proposing this match-up but I think it won't happen)

Corrales beat Uchiyama, but the rest of your list makes sense. I doubt Pac would come down to 135, but he might do 140.

Agreed. I misread Corrales' resume. My bad.

I'd love to have y'alls optimism that he's only gonna fight top guys here on out, but historically with Top Rank, there's just as good of odds that he ends up facing Billy Dib or Jose Lopez while they dither around talking about building a "big fight".

Salido hardly qjalifies as the best of the best. Think most would be pleased with that.
I think there's an acceptance by most that he stays and competes in a far from star studded SFW class.
Notice Arum has linked everyone of his prize stable with Pacquiao, because he can sell that and Manny could lose and not effect his earning power.
He never puts Crawford/Loma in the same sentence though, despite linking both with Manny

I did last night on Twitter, but obviously that's not here. And also that fact sucks.

This is a good path for Lomachenko, gives him time to get older and bigger. I also like the idea of Lomachenko fighting Gamboa. I think right now Lomachenko's best weight is 126+130 although I don't know if he could comfortably go back down to 126 after making the move to 130.

As Roy Jones said Crawford has too big a frame to go down in weight and is headed toward 147 pounds.Crawford is a much larger human than Lomachenko not a really fair fight.
