Ward has been dropping below the waist since forever. He likes to do it when he's on the defensive as well like when he turns to his right and almost turns his back to his opponent and then bend's below his opponent's waist. He didn't really do that against Kovalev but he did it a lot against previous competition. Ward fought Kov. about as well as he's capable of. He can't stand in the pocket like a James Toney and he isn't going to outbox anyone with his skill set but he's good at what he does. I personally just think he doesn't have that much confidence in his actual boxing abilities and I think it has something to do with his suspect chin.
