Gennady Golovkin's promoter says talks to fight Daniel Jacobs have been 'positive'

Gennady Golovkin’s promoter said Monday that “talks are continuing” for a mandatory middleweight title fight against Daniel Jacobs and there’s “a positive outlook” to striking a deal by early next month.
Tom Loeffler said he’s planning a discussion this week with Jacobs’ manager Al Haymon after an extended talk between the pair last week.
Although Loeffler declined to discuss further details of the talks, boxing officials aware of the negotiations said a March 18 HBO bout at Madison Square Garden in New York is being eyed.
Talks have dragged on as the WBA enforced a rule that stipulates the full champion is entitled to a 75-25 purse-split percentage over the regular champion, prompting negotiations to avoid a purse bid that would keep the 75-25 split in place. from L.A Times
Will Jacobs sign the dotted line of the contract ?

effing boring is all this, how long does it take to make a fight ? talks have been "positive" ? Christ they not trying to make leonard v hagler ! I personally don't give a sh1t whether he fights Jacobs or not so either sign for the effing fight or don't, nobody will care either way! that way out today

I think Loafler stalled the purse bids because he knows, Jacobs would rather vacate than fight 75-25.. However, Golovkin likes being an active fighter, and this negotiating is a damn shame for him.
I think if the WBA come to a point where they need this fight to happen ASAP, because negotiating has been going on for quite a while now, then if a purse bids does happen, Jacobs will definitely vacate and go in another direction.

LOL, true! If this fight ever gets made I really hope GGG KTFO Jacobs to worth all this masquerade.

Of course there's a chance that Haymon goes along with the WBA's purse bid, wins it and then forces the fight to be televised by Showtime, which would then compel Golovkin to drop his "super" championship as he is contractually tied to HBO (much akin to the Kovalev-Stevenson situation).
Personally-speaking, I reckon Loeffler tried to avoid the purse bid, when Danny didn't drop his belt, even if it means granting Jacobs more than the stipulated 25% share and prolongs Golovkin's period of inactivity.

Yup, also GGG is pressured by the public to get a credible opponent and his team can't afford to let this opportunity go away. Not to mention that this fight could do good sales in N.Y.

Question - once it became apparent that the Jacobs fight was not going to happen in December, why didn't GGG's team pursue another opponent for a December 10th fight? Heiland or Andy Lee or anyone with a decent reputation willing to take the fight on short notice? I honestly would have preferred to see him in with an overmatched opponent as a fill-in than fighting just twice in 2016.

Because of the WBA rules, purse bid, Haymon and GGG's contract with HBO , plus Jacobs is a credible opponent for GGG and this fight could sell pretty well.
I agree that GGG's inactivity could affect him but TBH I'd rather see GGG fighting 2 times per year against legit opponents than fighting less credible opponents and get bashed for that.

3G needs to dispatch of Jacobs and if GingerHead continues cowering in a Mexican ravine somewhere outside of Guadalajara he needs to head north to big boyland.

Canelo and GGG will have to fight sooner or later because both would do crazy money.

Or Canelo could keep ducking making a little less crazy money.

No they don't. GingerHead has plenty of money and time to wait until it is too late for 3G or he has been properly aged for the picking.
3G should fight GingerHead in September or go north and fight a couple of massive ppvs in England.

IMO it's 2017 or never. The ideal period would've been this year in September.

GGG vs Groves / DeGale in U.K would be some very makeable fights and I think these fights would do big numbers.

WBA has issued a 7-day deadline for reaching an agreement:

We are about to witness them changing their decision yet again, as 7 days is absolutely unrealistic.

The endless negotiations and "talks are positive" horsesh*t is getting sickeningly old.

Most likely Jacobs would be advised to drop that 'irregular' trinket and fight Mora III, Brian Vera or Andy Lee type of opponents. He would still get 800-1 mill. $ paydays for fighting tomatoes.

Yeah that's pretty annoying and doesn't go anywhere. K2 should put GGG against Groves or DeGale in UK. These would be easy big fights to be made for GGG. Not to mention about the recognition and the money GGG would make if he beats these guys.

They're getting fooled again. Canelo, CEJ and BJS did it and now it's Jacobs turn.

would just move to uk if i were GGG, we seem to have a never ending conveyer belt of middles/supermiddles over here, fights against saunders, eubank, degale, groves, smith and whoever else turns up would make him a fortune
