Boxingtalk has been informed that WBA and IBO junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara will return to the ring on January 13 to face former champion Yuri Foreman. The bout will take place in Miami at the Hialeah Park Race Track and will be presented by Premier Boxing Champions on either ESPN or Spike TV. There will be more to follow, until then..

I haven't seen Foreman since he lost to Cotto what feels like ages ago. This is an absolutely meaningless fight.

What a farcical fight. As a boxing fan you're never shocked by the hilariously terrible matchups you have to endure but this has got to be one of the worst I've seen recently for a "world title"

I dunno how much longer I'm going to continue to watch boxing. I love the sport itself but the matchmaking is rapidly killing my enthusiasm for the sport.

There's a lot of other good fights scheduled for early 2017 so no despair about this one too badly. It's in the minority of the early schedule next year.

Yeah fair point. You know what it's like though. Boxing is an infuriating sport to follow as a fan.

Lara is one of the most over-rated champions on the planet so challenging himself with Yuri Foreman well that paints a thousand picture's

Lara is forced to fight 3rd raters like this because he can't get appropriate fights to save his life.

I didn't know Foreman had fought since 2013, but apparently he's beaten 2 corpses in the past year. This would definitely be an immense waste of Lara's time, but not noticeably worse than were Jan Zaveck and Delvin Rodriguez.

I still think that 3G should deal with Lara, but nobody wants to look as bad as Lara makes everyone look.

Is Lara advised,managed or promoted by Al Haymon?

Nothing learned at all from the fight apart from the fact that unsurprisingly Foreman's knees still looked gubbed, he looked in distress putting his body weight on them as he tried to get up from the finishing KD,im not convinced the KD in the 3rd was legit, Lara did land a left but hard to tell whether it was the punch or a slip which put Foreman down,either way it was irrelevant , still the uppercut that Lara put Foreman down to end things was out of the top drawer but everything before it was meh

I actually enjoyed the Payano and Dirrell fights despite being mismatches,Anthony's fight especially was 1 way traffic from start to finish

Me too lefty. I actually hardly watch it now. It's a load of shite really. My favourite sport by a mile, the thing I did almost every day from 9yr old to 15 and it's been turned to absolute shite.

I was at the fight. Alex Martin got robbed. Miguel Cruz got the decision because he is from Florida.
