ODLH:'I’m officially cutting that offer in half' [for BJS]

"We’ve made an offer to Billy Joe Saunders. But after his performance, from what I saw - I’m officially cutting that offer in half,” said De La Hoya to Fight View 360.

“So if he wants to fight Canelo, he’s more than happy to..... but the offer we put on the table doesn’t stand whatsoever. We would have to renegotiate and come to terms because look - Canelo’s the guy and he’s the man. And obviously Billy Joe Saunders didn’t make a name for himself in his last fight."

I hope BJS begs Golovkin for a fight. :OhYes:

GBP offering half of nothing is still nothing, since the fight was never signed-up for anyway and there was no financial agreement in place.

GBP’s goal was never solely focussed on adding Saunders’ name to Canelo’s resume, since it doesn’t really improve his standing in the sport, instead the main objective was to capture the WBO middleweight belt, since it’s the only strap not owned by Golovkin.

If Oscar De La Hoya is being sincere in his claims, which I personally doubt he is, then the fight won’t get made. Billy Joe could still earn a decent payday fighting Golovkin instead.

That being said, both K2 and GBP cannot hold Saunders’ to ransom by offering small paydays, since Billy Joe can earn decent purses facing his fellow countrymen instead by engaging in highly-lucrative rematches against the likes of Eubank Jr. or Andy Lee.

While the part in bold might be true, I think Saunders believes he has a much better chance of beating Canelo than he does with GGG. From his interviews it seems to be a case of "I'd fight Canelo" and "I'd fight GGG, but only if you pay me big money."

Translation: BJS performance was terrible. We want him to fight Canelo next.

I never said he did.

My comment was in response to Saunders saying he "believes he has a much better chance of beating Canelo than he does GGG".

I'm agreement with him. Because any chance at all is better than none.

Just a typical Oscar De La Hoya Tuesday really. 3 grams of cocaine, 2 bottles of vodka (Grey Goose) and 1 Dilldo.

Oscar is by far my least favorite figure in boxing.
He just seems so fake.

ODLH always strikes me as a complete dummy. Him heading up a company like he is currently- seems a recipe for disaster.

Golovkin should cut Canelo's offer in half for being a pussy.

You know, I don't blame BJS for what he's been doing. He's pretty much said in so many words that he can't beat GGG and my guess is that once he loses this belt, we probably won't see him much after that. He's got a death grip on the belt and wants to hold it as long as he can and by any means possible. He doesn't have the talent to remain champion regardless so he's doing everything he can to avoid that mandatory that will bring an end to it all. How this kid got away with fighting Akavov for this latest defense is beyond me. But it's just a matter of time before the sun stops shining on BJS.

BJS just wants to hit the jackpot vs Canelo or GGG , win or lose.
