In your opinion who is the top active heavyweight out there now? On boxrec ortiz is no.1 but i wouldnt have him in my top 10

I would put joshua top of the tree

Well, based on the term "active heavyweight" it has to be Joshua really.

Hard to class either Fury, Klitchsko or Wilder as active.

I think we'll find out when Joshua fight Klitschko.

Wilder obviously has a claim with Fury retired but Klit-Josh is one of the best fights that can be made right now and shows Joshua at least has some ambition.

Anyone factoring in Parker at all?

Currently boxing at the moment Anthony Joshua. I do not see nothing to trouble him out there in what ive seen. The real champion is Tyson Fury but he's given up the titles so really can't add him to the list because he is 'inactive' So number 1 heavy has to be AJ.

Fury for me, but his inactivity obviously leaves question marks for many.

Active heavyweights is a very tough question, as there are perhaps even more question marks surrounding them all. But, Anthony Joshua has probably shown the most potential to lay claim to the number one spot.... but is Ortiz' record better?!

I suppose it's hard to define "active". I was going to say Povetkin but he hasn't fought in over a year. Wilder is (I think) still injured? I would class Povetkin and Klitschko as active as they have fights booked in and Wilder has fought in the last 12 months so I'd say he is fairly active too.

Fury is out for at least 12 months and on paper he was the no.1,parker,after his performance on saturday morning wouldnt make my top 5,that leaves klitschko,AJ and wilder,all three match ups here i would pay to see,and you would get no moaning out of me

The winner of Joshua-Klitschko will clearly go straight to number 1. And if Joshua demolishes Klitschko like many expect, how will Fury's win be viewed?

Ok bit of an exaggeration saying top 10,he wouldnt get in my top 5,AJ,WILDER,KLIT,POVETKIN,browne and pulev are all above him imo

With Fury "inactive" Wladimir is still number one until someone else proves otherwise. Povetkin number two.

I don't think it would have a negative effect on Fury's win. Everyone knows Joshua is more likely than Tyson to KO someone, so I wouldn't really take anything away from Fury's points win.

I suppose if Joshua also outboxes WK as well as KOing him, maybe it will.

That's a fair point, sytles can make the difference. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Joshua lays Klitschko out, but still gets out-boxed by Fury.

Fury, Wlad, Povetkin, Ortiz and Haye.

The crop of top ten heavyweights out ther atm is good and can only make good viewing for us boxing fans. I look forward to the next few years of great heavyweight fights

Fury should not be in the discussion at the moment given his clear L to substance abuse and psychological disorder / games.

WKlit is the man at the top of the hill, deservedly. AJ gets his shot at the top soon. WKlit deserves respect for even bothering to return, let alone taking on the man most have been ready to coronate without good reason for awhile now.

Joshua best be ready. WKlit is coming to cement his place among the ATG HWs.

Really? Browne seems tailor-made for Fury to me, I don't think he'd get near him.

I agree Browne is very basic he don't move his head, his footwork isn't very good he just got a very powerful right hand and always goes for it. Idk why people think Browne could take Ortiz, ortiz would destroy him.

With no determined return date for Fury, he's out of the running until further notice. I would have put Klitchko in the same category, but with his now announced return in April, I'd place him top. Wilder is also currently active (the fight against Arreola wasn't too long ago), and I'd arguably place him second. Ortiz would have been third, but after some debatable performances against Scott and Allen, he drops down for me. Which basically leaves Joshua in third spot. That said, if he beats Klitchko in April, which I believe he will, he's top of the tree by a long way.
