Brook vs. Spence purse bid on Feb 26
Posted: 13 Dec 2016, 07:53
by Ruthless-RKO
IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) and his mandatory challenger Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) have a purse bid scheduled for February 26, according to Spence. He’s just waiting for the purse bid. He doesn’t know if Brook is going to vacate his IBF title at the last second or what.
Spence is really hoping that Brook doesn’t give up his belt, because he says he wants to personally dethrone him to win the IBF title in the traditional manner rather than getting it outside of the ring. Brook will be entitled to a 75/25 split of the revenue for the Spence fight. That’s something that Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been mentioning over and over again, as if he’s already counting the money that Brook will be getting for the fight.

Hearn has gone on record saying he can make the weight. Lets see if he takes the fight. Will be a big fight stateside as Spence has been built up as the next big thing.

Of course he "CAN" make the weight. Easier said by Hearn than done by Brook though.
RJJ made the weight too.

Hard not to like brook. I think 54 is the right move but he's settling business with the guy nobody is clamoring for right after ggg. Kell is another reason why boxing in the UK is far more interesting than here in the states.

No way will AH risk his planned future crown jewel Spence vs Brook so early -NO WAY - expect Spence to price his way out of the title fight -

Oh yeah, I can see Spence pricing himself right out of that purse bid.

My hat will definitely be off if Brook does fight Spence. Spence said he also walks around in the 170's, so the weight cut excuse everyone likes to throw out won't hold water if Spence does beat Brook. I think it will be a great fight, if it happens.

I see no reason why it won't.

The above is so true. Hearn and his UK fighters get what this thing is about and they are carrying the sport right now. If Brook does take this fight and can say that he fought GGG and Spence Jr. back to back, win or lose, Brook is the man. American fighters are way too concerned about being undefeated (another repercussion from Floyd). UK and European fights are more about being in big fights. That's all they care about and that's why the best fights are coming from across the pond.

Obviously a fight the fans want but feels to me that both fighters would be happy to go in another direction.

Just like Jacobs did with GGG

Brook's stock and value went way up in the loss to GGG - Heroic effort by Kell Brook who we all know has terrified Khan -

IF. He had nothing to lose vs GGG, other than getting his face smashed in. Khan could have done what he did for a few rounds too....until he got KTFO, or his face smashed in.
Brook moving to 154 may look like a good move on paper, but does anyone thing he could beat Andrade, Lara, or Jermall Charlo? I doubt it. Charlo maybe.

If Brook doesn't face the risky guys, he's a ducker, he's scared to lose
If Brook does, he had nothing to lose, still no credit given
If Andrade, Charlo, Spence Jr don't fight the risky guys, they are being avoided, it's them the world is scared to fight
If they do fight them.......
Well there's your big IF. Because they haven't and they've got forums full of people making excuses for them because they are the ones being avoided.... apparently, they're the ones that guys like Brook and Canelo and GGG are steering clear of while they are more than willing to get in the ring with one another, it's fornicating comical.
Brook, Smith and Khan have got in the ring with challenges too big to cope with and each performed admirably and took the fight to their opponent before inevitably getting stopped and each has been accused of cashing out, taking the "low risk" option of fighting guys that were almost certainly going to knock them flat out.
Canelo's faced some of the best in the sport and gets called the biggest yella ducker of the lot and GGG consistently calls out any realistic challenger or title holder at 160lb

Brook has one good win in his entire career vs a guy that quite a few thought beat him...Porter. He was quick to remind everyone of the importance that he defend his title mandatory challengers, Jo Jo Dan, Bizer, and can't even think of the sack that was the third one.
He steps up to fight GGG, and gets demolished. If he lost to Spence at his own weight instead, it would have been bad for his career. Even the Khan fight then would have not been as huge of a money maker. Smart move by Brook. People forget 3 or 4 years ago he blatantly ducked Bradley, who moved up to fight Pacquiao. For as many fights as this guy has, and as much as I like his style, he has as much to prove as the unproven Spence, imo. Spence at least has out-done Pacquiao and Khan with a common opponent. I hope Brook has the boys to fight.

Me too, but until he proves he doesn't I assume that a guy from welter who jumped two weight classes to face the acknowledged most devastating puncher in boxing has a full sac.

Poor Khan. Is he EVEN in fight discussions of any value anymore after getting piped out cold yet again? I will say that Khan needs Brook desperately now. I don't imaging anyone is lining up to fight Khan now so Brook is the only big fight Khan can make before calling it a career.
